Switched from Verizon to AT&T because I thought AT&T would have best iPhone coverage. Big mistake. Very weak or no signal in house. Discovered problem was with AT&T too late to drop contract and go back to Verizon. It appears that Verizon is the carrier of choice in Eldersburg. Does anybody know of any AT&T plans to improve service or means of submitting formal complaints.

Great coverage from T-Mobile in the eldersburg area except for when I get out near marriotsville, becauase the land is high and low.

No Reception in downtown Sykesville area near the HowardCounty Line and River. Total Dead Spot for Verizon. Phones will disconnect.

i get very poor receptino inside my neigborhood yet I can see the tower at the top of the hill standing just at the end of my street.

Commuting to work I loose calls and pickup a roaming carrier on ridge before marriotsville2. From there until frederick road and marritsville I'm in roam. If I establish a call before I hit this roam area, I'm guarenteed to loose the call. Roaming maybe included with my plan, but it a pain to constantly hit redial.

Reception improved after installation of repeaters on Liberty High School water tower. Has be deterioriating ever since.

It's recently been worse and worse. With Verizon's "free after 9" program, I usually only make calls after 9pm, but I have to stand outside on my driveway to even get a signal! I have one corner in my room that gets about two bars, but that's if I'm lucky. Funny thing is, before 9pm, I have 3-4 bars almost everywhere in E-burg. Uh, what the heck?

There is no reception in my neighborhood anymore. This started about 6 weeks ago. Cingular cannot seem to explain it.

Within the last month or two, I no longer have any service in my house. What makes it worse is that I cancelled long-distance service at my house a couple of years ago. I can no longer make long distance calls from my home. I have called to complain, but Cingular have no answers.

Reception from Fort Meade to Sykesville is OK until I get to Piney Ridge Dr.(almost home). Then it suddenly drops out. I get no reception inside my house, unless I stand in the kitchen and try to face north (strange, I know). Then I can get two bars, and if I'm lucky, I might see a third bar appear from time to time. I can't really depend on my cell phone service out here, which is why I keep my landline. Oh, and I have ZERO reception inside most stores in Eldersburg. NONE.

Reception in Eldersburg goes from good to poor over a short distance and worse in bad weather. Reception is great in what we locals call the Marriotsville Hole where nobody lives, but poor in some densely poplulated communities such as in parts of Bonnie Brae. In the lower areas, coverage is poor at best, yet you can almost see the Marriotsville Tower. I also knew about the Piny Run tower and reception in that part of Sykesville is great even in the huge holes along parts of Barthelow Rd. and all of Rt 27 at the end of which appears to be two towers in close proximity. The southern most part of Carroll County (Eldersburg) is terrible with signals rising and falling constantly and inconsistant coverage. Coverage in buildings is always poor to non existent. The tower map lists another cell site at Springfield Hospital which should cover some of the spots I am writing about but appears not to be active. I live about a half a mile away and can see that towers lights. If this is an active cell site, it is very poor relative to the Piney Run or Marriotsville site coverages. I switched from AT&T (no coverage) to Verizon (poor, spotty coverage that doesn't penetrate buildings at all). Verizon works well in many areas of low population density (makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?) and also the Westminster, northern Carroll County which has worse terrain, but sucks incredibilly in and around Eldersburg. I hope that tower at Springfield is a new one yet to be activated as opposed to one that exists with poor coverage. Its time to look at other services.

Worst cell reception I've ever had. Can't stand still and talk without signal dropping off. I'm switching to Verizon ASAP!

in my house it drops off, some calls are lost and one some days I get a better signal overall it sux out here in the sticks

I used to have Nextel I paid them a buch of money every month for 5 years for basically nothing. I have been with Cingular for a little over a year now. I live right off of the watershed, Liberty Reservoir and the forest that surrounds it are in my backyard. to add insult to injury I live at the bottom of a valley. Basically my house is a black-hole when it comes to cell phone service. Throughout the years no cellular service's towers have been able to produce a signal at my house, except for Cingular. I was going to make the switch for that reason alone. And Like everyone has stated before, Cingular gets excellent reception at The Home Depot here in Eldersburg. I am a former employee of that store and the fact that Cingular's reception was so good there as well I knew that my search for the "Best Mobile Service in Eldersburg" was over! So if you live on or near the watershed and spend lots of time in The Home Depot or Eldersburg for that matter Cingular is the Cellular Service for you!

Heard many rumors on this provider yet my experience over a period of 2 months now has been excellent! I have reception everywhere from home in Sykesville MD to work in Catonsville and everywhere in between down I-70. They're the first to put a tower up for Main St.in Sykesville too as there's no reception from ANY provider down there really strong or if at all. T-Mobile is full power there now.

Reception is good outside and in the house. Some drop off in stores especially Home Depot - Eldersburg where phone is unusable.

Boy did I get a surprise today! I was able to walk around *inside* the Home Depot in Eldersburg and maintain a signal of 3-4 bars on my Cingular phone with great voice clarity and no dropouts. I'm certainly glad I dropped Verizon for Cingular. My Verizon phone (LG VX6000) and all my prior phones on Verizon had no service at all inside the store: you had to walk outside into their garden section to get *maybe* 1-2 bars with voice dropouts! Cingular service all around the Eldersburg area is near perfect!

Having been with Verizon for years, I just switched to Cingular. At least at or near my house and around the Liberty Reservoir area in Eldersburg / Sykesville, Cingular is giving me a much better signal with no dropouts. Verizon is terrible in this area.
