Bangor really needs to fix signal on Kenduskeag because there are some dead spots along Kenduskeag Such as the Intersection of Kenduskeag and Husson. I wish AT&T would get in gear and get 3g up here because places up in VT get them Bangor should at least get or should actually in fact already have 3g but, alase still nothing to be heard about 3g coming our way.

As long as I stay in Bangor, I don't have reception problems, but traveling out of area it depends on which way I turn my head if I can maintain one or two bars!

if you can get a signal east of bangor on or around rt 9 from AT&T your lucky. most signal comes from unicel (roaming partner) 5 bars until AT&T finds your phone and reprograms it to ignore the roaming partner. Then you get 0 or 1 bar.

Service in Bangor is terrible. I get 1 bar, then it goes to no bars then finnaly sometimes it can't connect to Cingular at all so it roams on T-Mobile and I get 4 bars. This is all at my house. I had USCC for 5 years and it was great. Switching was a terrible decision. Service in Bangor is terrible. I'm gonna cancel the contract. Cingular is a rip-off too.

I actually have Unicel GSM. Service is good almost everywhere I go, though there is poor / spotty reception along I95 in Etna, and also in downtown Pittsfield. There is supposed to be a tower going up in pittsfield soon, which will greatly improve that whole area. Overall I am very happy, though I think I travel around less than some people, so I would not notice if there was an issue in many areas.

Union St.On Ramp To Broadway Off Ramp, Bangor, ME 04401 |

We love our phones, we can go to branch lake and have all the bars. The only problems we have is when we are getting on the Interstate from Union St.to Broadway we have no reception and in Walmart in Bangor no reception either. Other than that we have good reception even at home. I would rather have a Bangor number rather than an Ellsworth number because it is long distance and racks up the phone bills, but no problems other than those 3.

My Cingular v551 gets awesome reception in Ellsworth but not so great anywhere else.. It is useable around the Bucksport area and less than stellar in Bangor.. Considering when I signed up for the phone I specifically said I mainly used my service in Bangor (live in Bangor work in Ellsworth) I was pretty upset. Around the mall it gets like 2 bars and it will go dead on I95... not cool.. I don't even use a landline phone anymore.. this should be a fun 2 year contract.. LOL

AT&T quality varies but does work acceptably. There are some dead zones and variability but is generally acceptable in the Bangor and surrounding areas.

My wife and I switched to TMobile from unicel due to traveling all over the nation. T-Mobile is great for that, but in Maine it is random and spotty. There are spots in Bangor where I will drop calls, etc. Then again we are in Maine... rather than Mass. etc I am thinking about switching to USC now that my contract is up!

I moved to Downing Rd and found that I had no signal. I complained to T-Mobile and they sold me a new phone. I still get zero bars. Not enough towers in town.

Reception is spotty at best. I can get 5 bars if I travel half a mile towards town. This is sad because a Verizon phone at the same location will get 5 bars.

Tmobile service in Bangor / Brewer is good and consitant if you are in town. Its ok if you head up river to Orono and ok down the 95 corridor until Hampden. Anywhere else in the Bangor area is spotty at best. Heading south on 95 after Hampden you might get blessed with spotty service until you hit Augusta from there it seems to work just fine all the way down to MA.

I get reception whenever I need to use my phone within the Bangor area, though admittedly mostly on an as-needed basis (not a big phone chatter). Outside of Bangor (Ellsworth, Orland, Castine are where I've checked) is spotty at best. Also, I don't use any special features (text messaging, picture phone, data transfer, aim). I have noticed my phone picking up both US-890 (I believe this is the Unicel GSM network) and AT&T periodically in places where T-Mobile usually gets a decent signal. Since I have free regional roaming, this isn't a big deal but it did worry me a little because I was wondering if T-Mobile was losing towers in the area. Hopefully, they'll straighten everything out and improve cell reception around Bangor.

If T-Mobile is trying to break into the northern Maine market, they sure need to start providing towers other than just in Bangor and down I-95. I here that they are partnering up with Unicel and that Unicel is doing a soft conversion to GSM Phones, But heck they better start and move fast. Yes, cell phones are a lux. or conv. item but they are also a safety item for as much traveling that most people do here in maine to and from work. Step it up T-Mobile and Unicel, cause Cingular is also moving in fast.

You people are so whiny! How did we ever manage to live without cellphones or for that matter landline telephones for that matter? Complain! complain! complain! The technology has not been around that long, but most are too short-sighted and impatient to realize that. Just look back 10 years in cellphone technology and see how much things have changed. Due to the greed of all involved, towers and transponder leases / agreements are not free nor cheap for these companies to negotiate, and it takes a lot of money and time for them to increase their service areas. Most choose not to expand unless there are enough potential subscribers to make their bottom line, and the Maine woods being what they are, uncrowded and fairly pristine, there are not enough subscribers. Just be patient.

Have now had US Cellular four years. Reception is perfect. Rarely if ever can't call or receive. Travel throughout county and state daily. Out of state relatives with sprint, Verizon and AT&T use my phone cause theirs won't work. Biggest negative, phone selection is terrible and expensive. Razr was $160 less at other carriers than I paid at USC. Free incoming and messaging less at USC.
