Sometimes I have no bars, other times, I have no service at all. At least with no bars, I can sometimes get a SMS to go through. At my work in downtown Augusta, it's essentially the same.

I live off the Pond Rd in West Gardiner. When I first moved here, I had Verizon and I almost never had service when I was home. Granted, I do live down a dirt road surrounded by trees, but I was assured by Verizon employees that I would still have service. Since then, I've switched to US Cellular and have had MUCH better luck. I don't have excellent service, but I can still (usually) talk on my phone at my house without losing calls. And everywhere else I go I almost always have excellent service. If you live in Gardiner, I would definitely suggest US Cellular!

I drive all over the state. I got T-Mobile because at the time I was all over New England and they had the best coverage. Now I am in just Maine and have little or no cover and have many dropped calls and messages to callers that my number isn't in service or am unavailable and message that don't get through for 2 days. My cell phone is my office phone. How sad that I can be on the interstate, driving past the TMobile call center and have no reception at all. I have to wait until the end of July or pay $300 to get out of it. I can't even make a call at the end of my street - no reception at all.

a Nokia 5165 with Unicell has 5 bars, same model with Cingular has 1. This since Cingular "Improved" service after taking over from AT&T. They also changed fine print of service agreement to limit your ability to "roam".Since takeover (?2 years now?!), Cingular web site still sez "... .short term accessing problems for ATT customers... " All in all not impressed. Cingular looks like a 3rd rate provider from this perspective.

I commute to Portland. As soon as Cingular bought AT&T I began hitting dead spots along I-295 where there never used to be any. Now I can barely receive a signal all the way home. Cingular has got to be selling off their towers. Now I'm locked into a 2 yr. contract where I'm paying $60 a month for a digital "pocket watch." And it looses time on occasion!

I HAVE UNICEL GSM. Alright then... I've never had a cell phone in Maine. I have Unicel's NationWide GSM with a Motorola V180. My girlfriend has a V505 and used to have a Nokia 3220 (also GSM) with Unicel. My friends with US Cellular have reception where I don't. Myself, I don't get half of the SMS's sent to me, and often calls don't come in at all-- not even as missed calls-- and I'll get the voicemail notification 12 hours later. I go stand 150 feet from a Unicel GSM tower in-town, and GPRS (internet) is still shoddy, has problems connecting. My girlfriend tells me things were a lot better with her Nokia. I'm returning my Motorola, trying a Nokia, and if that doesn't work, I'm off to US Cellular.

All towers should share for reception purposes Then we get more area coverage for signals And that is what we all need most to reley on our phones Not all the other stuff such as radios cameras etc.

The salesman at US Cellular assured me I'd have coverage at home back when I first signed up. He lied. I can't use my cell phone at home 90% of the time. If I didn't use it for travelling, I'd get rid of the useless service in a minute.
