There are so many deadzones in Downeast Maine (Route 9, 192, 1, 189) that you cannot depend on using your cellphone at all. People living / visiting in this area often must drive long distances, and if your car breaks down you won't be able to call anyone for assistance! It is not safe at all! Could sure use some more towers along these major roads.

There is no cell phone reception in any of Lubec (pop 1,700). It is just as bad in Cutler. Smaller towns such as Machiasport (pop, 1,100) and Jonesport (pop 1,400) nearby, even Pembroke (pop 800) and Dennysville (pop 300) have cell towers but for some reason Lubec does not. It doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense to me.

There is no reception in most of Lubec, there are a few spots in which 1-2 bars may be picked up, and one 100x100 foot area at which 3-4 bars can be picked up from a Canadian cell phone tower.

verizon is good in most of ne maine, when I had sprint, it would cop out around augusta. I get a decient extended network signel through machais, sometimes it is good up to whiting corner. once I get out on 189 going toward lubec it varies, but is most often very weak. I have been able to make calls at the iga on 189 and sometimes at the rew and white. once I start up the hill in the village, the canadian towers grab the signle, and keep it... we need a tower up here!
