At about 3 miles down from Rte 1, I get between 3-4 bars of reception at the house and don't have to hang out the window to make or receive calls! Between here and Port Clyde the signal is spotty, dubious or non-existent. (Do get a good signal at Port Clyde, though! The Samsung A930 phone is entirely digital (CDMA) and works where ever US Cellular (the extended network partner) or Verizon towers are located (most of Rte 1 south from Rockland is good)! My other phone is a Nokia 3589i Tri-mode (with analog) and also works well. Unfortunately, it's difficult to purchase new Verizon service north of Bath on the coast... my phones have 631 and 505 area codes from our prior (and future) homes! Since we travel the US frequently, I have found that Verizon has the best coverage, especially if you use a Tri-mode (analog) phone!
