We purchased the phones through T-Mobile because it was the only service that worked in our area. They worked fine for 18 months until the beginning of July 2006. We now have no coverage at all at home. (Three separate phones) The phones will pick up as you approach I 95 and Rt 1 area in Wells.
I've had this phone for about a year now. The phone itself is amazing but the reception in this area is sub-par. I'm a little more than a mile from the beach. When I travel to Kennebunk the service is much better, but since I do most of my calls from home and I am cell phone only, this is not acceptable. I lose calls in the house especially if I am sitting at the computer. I have to be in the kitchen for the best service, hence I am looking on this site to find a better carrier ^_^
Overall, I like Cingular, but it seems that I'm in between 2 towers here. One by 95, and the other in Sanford. So, I'm lucky if I get 2 bars at home. Everywhere else is great though. I did notice a new tower going up on Highpine Loop Rd, so hopefully its a Cingular one.
Awful reception, one bar on a good day, outside / inside or anywhere. Also lousy reception on Rt 1 between Ogunquit and Cape Neddick, the service will drop completely for a stretch.
