Cingular GSM works great compared to my old analog / early digital nokia.. reception seems to have improved at home over the last year or two..

The Cingular GSM really seems to work in the back end of Yarmouth.

1-3 bars inside house second floor; predictable dead spots--selected places along Gilman Rd and Rt. 88, at end of Main St. near Lower Falls Landing in Yarmouth. Roaming reception only or no reception in places north of Brunswick; 3-4 bars Portland area and west to Gorham. Great reception in major metropolitan areas nationally.

USC has the best Customer Service of any carrier - IMHO. In Sept.they turned on a new tower on North rd, Trouble is it's only good for 1 1 / 2 miles. I live 2.2 miles from tower. I get 1 bar in my house and "roam" on Verizon around the H.S. That said the service is GREAT in most places Along rt 88 and Falmouth and Cumberland Foreside, service is very poor with all carriers. USC has excellent coverage, comparatively throughout Maine. My signal report is based on phone usage from my home, otherwise I would give it a 4 rating. GOOD! USC listens and will assist, The others dictate and sell. Start with USC before you try any others. (30 day trial as opposed to others 15). Plenty of felexible high minute phone plans. Phones available may not be the "latest", except in December. Service and support outweigh selection.

Standing outside at the intersection, signal can go to 4. However, trying to make calls indoors, the signal degrades quickly to 1 bar.

Voice mail takes up to 48 hours to deliver. Verizon advises they do not have any towers in the area. Roaming also uses a lot of power.

I usually have one bar on my display, however in the house, my phone never rings. All I can recieve are text messages. I have to go outside to make a phone call, but must talk quickly because I will get cut off!
