I have had so many problems with Cingular--their website, their reception, and their customer service! I was an AT&T customer and unfortunately had my phone stolen right after the merger of AT&T with Cingular. I was told that "migrating" to Cingular would be my best option. I tried to order a phone and service on the web multiple times (using three different computers), but received error messages every time. I was given a number to call customer service and was able to order a phone and service through them; however I was not allowed to take advantage of the internet specials. (I was also told that the problem with accessing their website must have been the computer--wrong!) When the phone arrived I did not receive the right one. Trying to correct it was hell. I called customer service and they told me that since it was ordered on the internet (it wasn't) I would have to follow the internet policy for returns. Then I was told to wait to receive return labels--waited 2 weeks and didn't receive them. I live in Lansing but frequently travel to Kalamazoo. With AT&T I had some areas in Kzoo where I would get no signal, but with Cingular NO service is the rule rather than the exception. I was told that towers were weak in the Kzoo area. I argued that I shouldn't have to pay for a service that I wasn't receiving, especially when their coverage map indicates that Kzoo is included. The manager explained that since I had two bars, that was considered "coverage"--forget that I couldn't make a call or receive a call! I also have a coworker who had no service with Cingular throughout the Lansing area and she had to fight to have her contract terminated with out charge. STAY AWAY FROM CINGULAR. I am switching and refusing to pay their termination fee.
