Robinson township is pretty much a dead zone for every cell phone company. I have tried a lot of diffrent phones, companies, and have had a lot of people with diffrent phones and companies out here. Verizon does have the best reception IF its a motorla phone (its only a couple bars). I do get a lot of dropped calls but its better than no signal. I hold calls if I use my blue tooth. I do have service with this phone in a lot of places other people don't. Hopefully the new tower going in grand haven township will help. Wish Robinson township would allow towers to go in. According to 2 diffrent cell phone companies Robinson township won't allow towers to go up.

Motorola i1 on Nextel's IDEN network works great here. But that's because the IDEN network is strong, but low bandwidth. 28k dial-up speeds makes surfing the net painful (but it's only half the speed of our dial-up, so I manage well enough.) I tried a Samsung Incognito last year. The phone was pretty good, but the Sprint network doesn't even work in the house. (With the Nextel IDEN network, I can have clear conversations in my basement with 2 bars!) It had to go back and I returned to Nextel (fairly easy to do since they're mostly merged anyways.) We are trying out a Verizon MiFi2200 for internet, but signal strength at BEST is 2 bars. Faster than dial-up, but speeds are inconsistent so is it worth the $50 / month? Phone History: Motorola i60: 2002-2005 - Great reception (full bars in the house.) Motorola i850: 2005-2009 - Okay reception (the antenna base kept cracking, so the antenna's connection was less than perfect.) (3-4 bars in the house.) Samsung Incognito: 2009-2010 (1 month) - Could hardly, if ever, get reception at home on the Sprint network. That's when I learned the difference between CDMA and IDEN. Motorola i850: 2010 (6 months) - Back to okay reception (3-4 bars in the house.) Motorola i1: Pretty good reception in the house. Adequate in the basement. (4-5 bars in main floor, 1-2 bars in basement.)

I always drop calls in my house, standing outside is a little better, I have to go down the road towards the lake before I get better service.

It is pretty sad when we can't get reception at your own house. I have been told a couple of times by Verizon that they want to put up a tower that would help the residents of Robinson Township but we haven't seen it yet. If we are lucky we get one bar, so when our calls do go through we have to make the conversation short before the connection gets dropped... .and it will!

Sprint seems to have great reception in Grand Haven. Inside my apartment I still get 4 bars. I also have had no problems down by the beach.

Cell signal sucks out here for all CDMA cell providers. Outside or upstairs I can usually keep a signal but I do get dropped often. Driving towards US 31, signal improves quickly.

I used to be able to get reception in my basement until I recieved a new phone. Now I have no reception, no bars or anything no matter where I am. Not even on the roof. Once in a while a incomming call will make it but it get dropped as soon as you attempt to answer it. The only thing that works is text messaging. I don't know if it is just a sucky phone or if Verizon took down the tower. Either way good luck getting a signal.

Verizon Wireless is the only brand who gets service at the Grand Haven beach. Nextel / Alltel 100% drop signal anywhere near the beach. Verizon Wireless even has a cell phone tower in Lake Michigan on a floating booey (spelling). The U.S. Coast Guard uses Verizon Wireless phones here. Sprint / Nextel / Cingular / Alltel / T-Mobile are all horrible choices for Grand Haven. Verizon Wireless is as common as the sky is blue around here.

I had a Sprint phone, and recently switched to Alltel after moving to Lakeshore Dr. It works great out there where my Sprint wouldn't pick up a signal. I can even use it in my basement. :-) Plus my plan's a little cheaper, so it was a good switch all the way around.

Verizon's signal would flucuate between an average to great signal. Always enough to make and receive calls, as long as you are picking up the local Verizon tower (SID 21). What became a huge problem was my phone picking up a distant Verizon signal from Chicagoland (SID 20)! I first noticed this when the time was an hour behind. With CDMA technology, it is impossible to receive or place a call when you are using a tower at such a far distance away, even if you are receiving a good signal. Verizon should attempt to fix this problem. The only way of getting around this is knowing how to program your phone so it will only pick up a digital signal from SID 21.

Reception is very mixed. I was able to get a great signal at the US-31 / M-104 intersection and a decent signal downtown. The signal at the Meijer on US-31 and at the state park was nonexistant, however. You could only call by roaming off Verizon.

Out here where I live, there seems to me no reception with any newer phones. I have tried most of what Verizon has to offer. No one in their tech dept. seems to know beans about phones. The only phone that will work is my 3 year old Nokia 5185, but I must have it connected to an external antenna, otherwise it too will drop calls.

I travel all over West Michigan and have only experienced terrible reception in my office at home. Switching from Nextel to AT&T has been the best change I ever made in cell networks. The signal strength I get going into the malls and deep into the stores, or office buildings is unbeatable. The only reason for good rating are the little areas on Lake Michigan Drive that are dead and the area right over my house. Funny, I walk to my driveway and get excellent recption?? Regardless, I wouldn't trade it for world, we'll maybe at least a new beemer!
