AT&T took over for alltel. All the towers are not up in working order. We have alot of dropped calls and the service area is terrible.

Sprint and Nextel average three to four bars in immediate Hesperia village corporate limits. No dropped calls in village limits. One small dead area on M-20 between Hesperia and White Cloud (all carriers), no dead areas between Hesperia and Fremont on Sprint. West of town, Verizon will roam on Sprint in most of the area as they do not have towers in the area until about five miles west of the village. North of town, Verizon picks up (surprisingly) about eight to ten miles north of the village on Comstock Rd, whereas Sprint is dead or roaming on Verizon in that area (admittedly, that area is population six and four of them are my relatives). Nextel does serve this area with a low-grade signal.

Sprint: Between -91dBm and -100dBm signal, calls go through and internet works fine. AT&T also has three to five bars in Hesperia. Calls go through reliably. Internet also works fine on AT&T. Nextel also has three to five bars, calls complete reliably and web works well although pages load slower due to iDen technology. T-Mobile roams on AT&T in Hesperia. Verizon roams on Sprint on postpaid and on most Verizon-based prepaids there is either no service or extra price roaming in the Hesperia area.

woman sales person said,"you will have good signal,"so I bought into that lie, free phone with bluetooth headset was a good deal, very poor reception, they do offer a signal enhancer, volp, for 269 dollars if you can afford it.I built my own enhancer, now I have 2 bars almost always.I am 12 miles from a tower.

Alltel: 0 to 1 bar, if a call goes through, it is dropped in short order. Analog signal is about the same. Tracfone CDMA and TDMA phones: Same as Alltel, 0 to 1 bar and call drops. Tracfone GSM phones: Three to five bars (roaming), good voice quality and few call drops.

I gave my parents my Nextel phones and I switched to sprint, no service with sprint, but my parents and Nextel have full service up in the woods here.
