Alltel seems to have a good signal, or no signal. What's the deal? Turn a corner, and no service. No signal at my house, it keeps switching back to the old analog signal in the middle of a conversation it seems. Alltel should be outlawed in Hillsdale.

Often have to go outside for reception. Will totally lose calls in between Hillsdale and Hudson or Jackson. But it is better than service with Nextel out here in the boonies.

Great reception and connection, with the acceptance of inside my office (surrounded by brick on all sides.) but call connections stink. Ususally can't place calls on first or second attempt, up to 25 dial tries to get a connection out. Some incoming calls recieve the same message.

My carrier is actually Centennial Wireless GSM. Their GSM service is brand new, I think as of OCT 2004 which is why it's not listed here. GSM 850 is generally great in Hillsdale, and all surrounding areas. I'm really surprised, I feel like I found the best kept cell phone secret. The problem is, there are no data plans, but the phone seems to roam on many many networks, no matter where I am... which means I never have a bad signal.

I'll tell you what's sad. This thread has been going on for 7 and a half years. And there are still huge dead zones in Hillsdale County. You can try Sprint, ATT, or Verizon on my farm. They're all crap. Verizon is the worst, usually zero bars(FWIW, Verizon also has far and away the most dishonest coverage map). I fear that even ten years out it'll still be poor. Feel like puking every time I see an ad touting smartphone apps and the miracle of 4G, when reliable voice communication is a pipe dream as we're heading into 2012. May as well be Siberia.

I get great reception in Hillsdale and Osseo. The only places I have had problems are just outside of Jonesville on 12 and when I go to my friends house in Kalamazoo. Other than that I have the best coverage on any phone I have ever had.

I have been using Sprint in Hillsdale for 4 years and have had great experience. But as soon as I head south out of town, west towards coldwater (on the back roads) or north of Jonesville I lose all reception, kinda stinks... So for in Hillsdale I recommend sprint, if you don't mind their lousy Customer Service... p.s. don't expect to receive a bill for the first couple of months, and YES they will shut your service off for not paying the bill YOU NEVER RECEIVED! according to a local Sprint reseller this happens more than not around here...

Sprint is crap. Either a great signal or no signal. I think they share their towers with Alltel, same old school technology. When are they going to switch to GSM??

T-Mobile uses GSM and doesn't get a signal in or near Hillsdale. AT&T TDMA phones work in Hillsdale, I wonder if they will be converting to GSM and allow T-Mobile to roam on their towers anytime soon?
