My phone contract is full access ( ROAM Included ) and sitting in my house it will sometimes go 4 full bars on Extended Network and then sometimes Zero bars, depending on phone traffic at the towers, If the FCC approves the Alltel / VERIZION Merger then at 18th and 136th there is a Alltel tower just near a mile away. Also anyone considering a cell extender ( IM A CET BTW and In electronics College, and a AMATEUR EXTRA CLASS ) if your signal is questionable with the antenna be surprised if moving the antenna may change reception 1 foot to 100 feet and foilage like trees will block the signal. EXAMPLE : I can sit in the house which BTW will drop your signal, outdoors alot of trees esp. sandy pines yeah you have a ton of trees, a open area with a 0.3 watt signal and verizion is CDMA on digital. not much power less power over a old 3 watt analog phone and a outdoor antenna or a bag phone. REASON not 3 watts ? FCC and Engineering reasons. don't ask me to explain it ( Very Technical ) BTW in order to get better reception and a tower lies with your Township or Zoning board and some people have a fit of seeing a stick 200 feet in the air and white panels ( maybe disguised as a pine tree hidden in the trees may help ) yes they have the technology just remember the old CB days of poor antenna installations. Poor to no reception in resort. Nextel has the best coverage here. Would be nice, if they piggybacked the Nextel towers to run their PCS network. Tried a repeater and it didn't help, so I sent it back. There's 1 tower about 7.5 miles away, but it's either directional or not putting out a strong enough signal to reach this location.

The reception is nothing. There is one spot where I can rarely make a call and it is on the shed of my roof, at night only.. my frienf brought up a Cingular phone, it had perfect recption. I used to have Virgin Mobile, and the reception was an average TWO bars which you are able you make a call but you just cant move around to much. Hopefully since Cingular merged with AT&T T-Mobile will get good reception because Tmoblile shares towers with at&t. Hope to be of help! God bless sandy Pines!
