Abysmal reception. I used Verizon for years with really no problems. Switched to Sprint to save a bundle of money, and because they now have an iPhone option. It has been a horrible mistake. It's been less than a week, and I'm already returning the phones and reordering them with Verizon. Even when my phone shows I have full service, call don't go through, or are dropped. On the rare occasions that I have been able to make a complete call, the people on the other line almost always have problems hearing me. The data is useless as well. Yes, Sprint has unlimited data, but it's useless if it doesn't work to begin with. This problem doesn't stop in Lansing. I drove to Howell a few days ago, and my call was dropped on the freeway. This is a main artery between Lansing and Detroit. Completely unacceptable. I went down to Sundusky, Ohio over the weekend to take a group to Cedar Point amusement park. I couldn't get a phone call, text message, or email to go through ALL DAY. Yes, the park was insanely busy, but the people I was with using Verizon and AT&T could at least make a phone call. On the times I could get my data to work, the connection speeds have been excruciatingly slow. You get what you pay for. I suggest sticking with Verizon or AT&T. I've never had any experience with T-Mobile, so I can't speak for them.

I have had Verizon for 8 years at least and never had a problem with reception in the Lansing area. When I head up north it works fine.

Signal strength has improved where I live - I can pretty consistently get ONE bar inside the house, but that has been enough to make and receive calls. It helps if I move closer to my south window, or go outside. At my MSU office, I have all five bars, but just down the hall, in classrooms, back to 1-2 bars, or nothing at times. Buildings put up a lot of interference, but many times that's where you are when you need to call out! My family and friends with Verizon say its better some places, but there are dead zones right around Lansing with both carriers - probably all carriers! Give me Richard Diamond's car phone! He never had a problem getting a hold of that leggy receptionist! (1950s TV, y'all). Next phone - iPhone, maybe. AT&T? Verizon? Both political bastids, so...

I love my ATT! NO complains from me. I have NO drop calls. It doesn't matter where I go. I have been to Colorado where my sister lives and she said no one gets good reception traveling through this one area where all calls get dropped by every carrier. We put ATT to the test... I used my ATT LGshine and held a conversation through the mountains and NO dropped calls. She was amazed! I drive all over Lansing, MSU, Frandor area, Holt, Mason, East Lansing, Okemos. I have never missed or dropped any calls in those areas with ATT! Even up North in Shelby by Pentwater area where my mother lives. I get GREAT reception. Actually I can honestly say that I can remember in the last 5 yrs. I have only had 2 dropped calls. I say that is a pretty good darn record. Also ATT customer service has been the best! They are very helpful and during EMR I have had in my family and ran out of Roll over min. I have called to see what I needed to do to upgrade my min. because my roll over min. were gone. ATT customer service has Added FREE..YES FREE min. to my account. 450 min. to be exact. not once but 3 times in my 5 years with them. That is GREAT customer service esp. when you are experiencing a crisis (EMR) in your family. I have been with them for 5 years and have all the services with ATT, home phone, internet, 2 cell phones and have No complaints. No we do not work nor do I know anyone who works for ATT. I am just 1 happy customer and proud to be with ATT! I wish you had my same experience because NO one else would be in business. ATT all the way!

Poor reception especially in my home off of Jolly. 1 or 0 bars all the time. Drops calls all the time. Works sometimes good but 95% of the time can't stay on a call without calls dropping or static on phone. Totally useless debating on whether to buy another phone or go with another service. Heard Metro PCS reception is bad. Why pay a bill if you can't use your phone for what it was intended for. Funny I have a Lg prepaid and it works fine no dropped calls and always 3 to 4 bars and reception crystal clear. Only problem is it's to expensive.

I have never gone without service anywhere in Lansing! I go to one bar at work occasionally but my calls and data are still fast and clear. I even have service in the middle of nowhere, when all my friends with Verizon and ATT have none! Switched to Sprint from Tmobile, I will never go back.

I get full coverage anywhere in this town. I don't loose a bar when I'm in the basement. I think it's the phone more than the carrier. I hear Samsumg and LG are known for good antennas. I used to have a Nokia that went down to 1 bar in Eaton Rapids, my newer phones do 3 bars.

The network seems to have gotten better in the past few years. I used to use and Samsung D807 and got great reception. I also had great reception on a Samsung Sync. Recently I upgraded to a Samsung A777. It is difficult to find an area where I get less than full strength. I'm even getting good coverage inside the locker room at the Y.

The Alltel service in this area has been really good. I'd never really considered Alltel as of about 3 months ago but I shopped around when my Verizon contract was over and found out how many more minutes I would get for the same price as well as My Circle off my family plan with Alltel. But the coverage has been perfect around my apartment near Briarcliffe. All over the area here really I've noticed a better signal and clearer calls than Verizon gave me. Shopping out at all the local malls / outlets and at the Wal-Mart Supercenter where I do most of my shopping the signal is always great. It really doesn't drop much indoors at all. Between me trying Verizon and my friends experience with others, I would definitely recommend Alltel as the best service provider here for coverage and what they'll offer in a plan. And nobody was more skeptical than me to begin with but I tried it because of the 15 day trial. I got almost 4000 minutes for free out of My Circle last month. Customer service in my experience has been great. the store on W Saginaw Hwy. can get busy at times but they're so patient about explaining everything and helping you out. Just this past month I went over my minutes by about 200 (yes, even after having My Circle). Luckily they backdated my plan so I wouldn't have to pay any overages. So far, I've not found anything bad to say about Alltel.

I have been happy with Verizon for years. Reception and their 800 number customer service is good. However the Lansing store on Saginaw is terrible. The customer service folks couldn't be less concerned about your service or even if you continue to be their customer.

Alltel likes to bill you for services never rendered then not tell you about it for years. Until you find out that it is on your credit report and then have no alternative but to pay it. Customer service is a complete joke, the local offices do not communicate with their cooperate offices. I would not advice this company for service. So far Verison has been everyone's favorite but I will continue research, good luck to you all.

T-Mobile and Cingular both use the same towers around here. I'm in a bad spot for both of them. Ballard Rd off Jolly. 1-2 bars outside my house on a good day. Inside my alumminum siding house maybe 1 bar..:(

I am happy with my service, I have been a T-Mobile customer for 4 years. My reception in my house is spotty to say the least. I usually have to go outside to use my phone for an extended period of time. It isnt my phone, this is the 4th phone during my T-Mobile stint. All have had the same reception issues. Other than the Nokia I owned as my first phone. It sucked. I barely EVER had reception with that thing!

According to the T-Mobile map, this location is supposed to be weak, but most of the time the signal is non-existant for me. Unfortunately, I bought a house here and my phone will ring most times, but I answer and the call is dropped. Once I get out to Penn. I get a full signal. I tried upgrading from a Sony T610 to the Motorola v370 based on comments made to me that the 370 has much better reception, but there was no improvement. I'm now looking to switch carriers, which is upsetting because I've been very happy with T-Mobile.
