Very good reception with Nextel. Have continued with them 1 year past contract. I like the Direct Contact (walkie-talkie) feature very much.

Very bad area for Verizon. Can't hold a signal in my house. Switching services but not sure who to go with for this area.

Abysmal reception. I used Verizon for years with really no problems. Switched to Sprint to save a bundle of money, and because they now have an iPhone option. It has been a horrible mistake. It's been less than a week, and I'm already returning the phones and reordering them with Verizon. Even when my phone shows I have full service, call don't go through, or are dropped. On the rare occasions that I have been able to make a complete call, the people on the other line almost always have problems hearing me. The data is useless as well. Yes, Sprint has unlimited data, but it's useless if it doesn't work to begin with. This problem doesn't stop in Lansing. I drove to Howell a few days ago, and my call was dropped on the freeway. This is a main artery between Lansing and Detroit. Completely unacceptable. I went down to Sundusky, Ohio over the weekend to take a group to Cedar Point amusement park. I couldn't get a phone call, text message, or email to go through ALL DAY. Yes, the park was insanely busy, but the people I was with using Verizon and AT&T could at least make a phone call. On the times I could get my data to work, the connection speeds have been excruciatingly slow. You get what you pay for. I suggest sticking with Verizon or AT&T. I've never had any experience with T-Mobile, so I can't speak for them.

Poor reception especially in my home off of Jolly. 1 or 0 bars all the time. Drops calls all the time. Works sometimes good but 95% of the time can't stay on a call without calls dropping or static on phone. Totally useless debating on whether to buy another phone or go with another service. Heard Metro PCS reception is bad. Why pay a bill if you can't use your phone for what it was intended for. Funny I have a Lg prepaid and it works fine no dropped calls and always 3 to 4 bars and reception crystal clear. Only problem is it's to expensive.

The Alltel service in this area has been really good. I'd never really considered Alltel as of about 3 months ago but I shopped around when my Verizon contract was over and found out how many more minutes I would get for the same price as well as My Circle off my family plan with Alltel. But the coverage has been perfect around my apartment near Briarcliffe. All over the area here really I've noticed a better signal and clearer calls than Verizon gave me. Shopping out at all the local malls / outlets and at the Wal-Mart Supercenter where I do most of my shopping the signal is always great. It really doesn't drop much indoors at all. Between me trying Verizon and my friends experience with others, I would definitely recommend Alltel as the best service provider here for coverage and what they'll offer in a plan. And nobody was more skeptical than me to begin with but I tried it because of the 15 day trial. I got almost 4000 minutes for free out of My Circle last month. Customer service in my experience has been great. the store on W Saginaw Hwy. can get busy at times but they're so patient about explaining everything and helping you out. Just this past month I went over my minutes by about 200 (yes, even after having My Circle). Luckily they backdated my plan so I wouldn't have to pay any overages. So far, I've not found anything bad to say about Alltel.

I have been happy with Verizon for years. Reception and their 800 number customer service is good. However the Lansing store on Saginaw is terrible. The customer service folks couldn't be less concerned about your service or even if you continue to be their customer.

I am happy with my service, I have been a T-Mobile customer for 4 years. My reception in my house is spotty to say the least. I usually have to go outside to use my phone for an extended period of time. It isnt my phone, this is the 4th phone during my T-Mobile stint. All have had the same reception issues. Other than the Nokia I owned as my first phone. It sucked. I barely EVER had reception with that thing!

According to the T-Mobile map, this location is supposed to be weak, but most of the time the signal is non-existant for me. Unfortunately, I bought a house here and my phone will ring most times, but I answer and the call is dropped. Once I get out to Penn. I get a full signal. I tried upgrading from a Sony T610 to the Motorola v370 based on comments made to me that the 370 has much better reception, but there was no improvement. I'm now looking to switch carriers, which is upsetting because I've been very happy with T-Mobile.

Very sporadic. Will sometimes have coverage at my house, other times it's roaming. Driving down Cedar St. toward 96 is the same thing. Sometimes it will be roaming the entire way, other times i'll have a strong signal. Don't know how much of it is Sprint and how much is my phone.
