We have tried all three of our phones: Motorola, Nokia and LG in Northwestern Lower Michigan (Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties), across the country to Montana (Gallatin County) and have the same problems everywhere -- same problems on each of our cell phones. Many of our calls drop -- even when out on Lake Michigan where there is no building or land / tree obstruction at all. We wrote to Alltel headquarters, and oddly enough, less than one week after we received a return signature card, showing that the letter was received by them, our phones no longer rang when calls came in. We now only know after the fact -- when the alert sounds to let us know a call had come in. Occasionally, when another Alltel customer calls (Alltel to Alltel) the phones will ring -- but not more than 25% of the time. Further, I noted that our billing showed 4 calls dropped per month this past summer, whereas, it averaged 4+ dropped calls per day.

There is absolutely no 3G service in Leland, and the EDGE signal is so poor that data is basically useless. Apps that use the internet can't work, and trying to load webpages is near impossible.

Nice voice and data coverage in Leelanau County, originally had Verizon which had zero data coverage. Travel frequently from Grand Rapids to Leland and have coverage 95% of the way.

Good reception in Leland to about 6 miles north no reception in Northport or Suttons Bay
