Used to have Cingular and was plagued with below average reception like most in this area. Recently switched to sprint, and I must say that the choice was a good one. I consistently get 4-5 bars on my phone, and the lowest I've seen is 3 (which doesn't happen very often). Its not always about the carrier, its also depends on which phone you get. I had heard Samsung phones are usually among the better phones when it comes to reception.

If Verizon is the best reception we have a real problem! I have next to no reception in my home or anywhere else out here near the Romeo Plank Black Hole. When are they going to put a tower out here? I've heard rumors of a new Verizon tower going up at 26 and Romeo Plank for at least 2 years now but... No New Tower!

Dropped calls, low signal. Cinglar was a bad choice, it seems.

Between Hayes and Romeo Plank, there is NO reception period on any phone I have had.

I live off of 23 mile / Card and my service has been great! Once in a great while, I will get a week signal on 23 mile, but this is not very often. I have had every carrier out ther and Verizon is by far the best that I have had out here. It also works great out by the lake off jefferson, where all of the other carriers I had didn't work.

I can not get any reception at home, or most other places around here. I have had my sims card updated and heard every excuse in the book. I want to switch to another carrier, however; the responses from others on this page seem to suggest that the entire area is bad for all carriers.

To expand on another post, I just picked up a Treo 650 from Verizon and found the signal to be very poor in the area. I have complained to Verizon for years about the reception and they seem to do nothing. I have heard rumor that one of the towers in this area was put out of commission accidentally so this problem may be only temporary. Unfortunately, they wont tell you the truth!

Little to no reception along 23 Mile Rd.between North Ave. and Romeo Plank Rd. No problems in most other places including elevators where I work at the RenCen. But along 23 Mile Rd.it's terrible which is an area I travel a lot, so it's very irritating!

Always no reception in this area, changed plan and got new phones and exactly the same. Calls anywhere north of M59 last about 30 seconds’ tops. They pulled the old sim card out of the old phone, maybe the reason why... Gong back to Cingular to make them replace the sim cards with new ones. Also had billing problem for 14 months, Cingular added $7 a month to my bill for a 7 / 7 plan? Two extra hours in the evening unlimited. Well we caught the error, spent 3 hours debating the problem. First rep. only offered a $60 credit, called back and argued with another rep for an hour. Results $168 removed from my bill, next 2 months 1 / 2 off. DON'T settle for one reps B / S. If you unsatisfied call back and demand satisfaction. If you're firm and ask what’s Cingular going to do for me now, they'll give in.

Purchased Cingular Treo 650 GSM and had very poor reception at 24 1 / 2 and Romeo Plank. Could sometimes make a call, but never could complete a call. Longest call length was 1:20. Many calls never made it to :20 seconds. Customer service says there is a tower at 23 and Romeo Plank near the Fire Station, but this is the closest Tower, and signal is not strong enough. Phone had excellent reception at 23 and Schoenherr. Awesome phone, can't wait for T-Mobile or Verizon to release this phone as both have excellent coverate at 24 1 / 2 and Romeo Plank.

No problem very few droped calls.

Half of the time we get no bars. We get 1 bar max with AT&T but it usually roams to Cingular with 1 bar. Also frequently get "SOS Only" or "Emergency Only." Phone will be going back shortly.

It is terrible. Dropped calls and bad signal. Don't go to Tmobile. You will be sorry you did...

Pretty good but phone's reception seems to get worse with age does that make sense.

Have almost no reception within 3 / 4 mile radius of 23 mile and Heydenreich. Usually zero or one bar signal strength. Verizon was no help. Once outside this dead zone reception is fine.

great signal everywhere except my ktchen, which in fact is getting better and hasnt been an issue since I called and they ordered an update for my phone (for free).

Poor reception in and around my house with the V300. Reception varies from no bars to two bars (out of five.) Anything other than quick conversations are difficult because of significant garbling and dropouts on the voice signal. The aforementioned garbling is more frequent than dropped calls, but those are common as well. Reception improves as you move south of M-59, especially towards Sterling Heights / Warren. Unfortunately, Macomb Township seems to be a cellular dead zone (at least with this T-Mobile / V300 Combo). :(

Must use a trimode phone in this area. On analog 50% of the time.

I get GREAT reception wherever I go; in buildings, in homes, and when your in the middle of nowhere. I would recommend this carrier to anyone.

Sometimes get three bars but most of the time 1 bar called Verizon to complain they more towers going up... so who knows. Otherwise great service. I guess I am in the Bermuda Triangle... unexplained bad area!
