All around the silver lake area my phone works great (so would any other gsm phone (t-mobile, centennial, cell one, tracfone)) When we are on vacation in Silver Lake all the people with cdma phones (verizon, sprint, alltel) are always asking to use my phone. Most of the time it has full coverage in the area (4 inside) and when you go in the dunes its from 3 to full depends on how deep of hole you are in.

Alltel does not live up to their hype on the lakeshore. Their signal keeps switching between local and Wisconsin becuse neither is of enough strenght to hold a call. Their customer service is no help. A website I found shows them having a tower near Hart MI, about 5 miles away. Most of the time I have a full siginal from WI but it comes and goes from 0 to 5 bars. I can't make a call through WI, it trys for a miniute or so then says call failed. If I do get a local signal I can sometimes make a call, but its usually dropped. Where we live is a resort area and my guess is the local towers are overwhelmed on weekends when the problem is worst.
