AT&T ad's state they have the best coverage in the nation for 3 G they miss the UP of Michigan. I have summer home North of Newberry and wish keep doing business but service is very slow. with all the tourist throught the year you would think AT&T would upgrade the equipment for the new phone traveling in the area beside helping the locals? There ad is false and Verizion will take over in this area because the potinial market is there to make more revenue and new customers. bev

We have a summer home on South Manistique Lake in Portage Twp in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. We were able to use our phone without a lot of trouble. Due to the extreme isolation of the area I called Cingular to make sure that we were using their network (my phone said Cingular and we have a no roaming no long distance plan). I had been told that other people were having some problems with Cingular saying that they were using out of network service, although the service was through a Cingular sister company. Cingular assured me that our service wasn't out of network. We have received a letter indicating that we can no longer use our phone in the U.P as it is out of network. Cingular offered to let us cancel our plan without penalty, or we can continue to use our phone service, except that if we are "out of network" the calls won't go through. They are now reviewing their decision. As an aside, the bill from Cingular does not indicate that any calls were "out of network".
