After having Alltel for almost 6 years, we had to switch when Verizon purchased Alltell. While with Alltel, the signal strength got better each year to where I finally was getting 3-4 bars consistently. Now, it is like I am starting all over again with Verizon. Most times I get 1-3 bars on my phone, but with inconsistent regularity. Some days I am lucky to get a 4th bar, usually in the AM or very late at night. There are times when there are NO bars! Each time I call support, I am told that there is nothing wrong anf that I may need to upgrade my phone. Not something I want to do - extremely happy with the one I have. If I go to Onaway Area Schools property you get 5 bars. If I go to the outer areas of town, you guessed it, 5 bars. Other areas in town are hit and miss - with some at 0 bars, others at 5 bars. I can't figure it out, and neither can Verizon. But, when I connect to my laptop (tether) I get 4-5 bars more regularly.

I am in the cedarville hessel area quite often and Alltel works poorly. In the town of cedarville you are ok, however it does not work at all in hessel and from hessel all the way to I-75 [about 15 miles] it is almost non existant. a.t&t works much better for this area

AHHH! No body told me there was no service here when I bought my phone! There is no coverage at all here - gotta go 15 miles towards i75 to get roaming coverage, over 30 miles towards alpena to get roaming! T-Mobile you got some work to do

Verizon is the only one that works at my cabin. The reception is OK outside and sometimes inside. Thinking of getting a Yagi outside antenna.

Never go beyond large cities with Virgin!
