With the nearest tower on top of Northern Michigan Hospital, it is impossible to get / retain reception at / near my location. Reception away from my residence is good to excellent.

I had Nextel before they merged with Sprint in Petoskey / Harbor Springs. Shortly after the merger my service quality became quite poor. I could not make calls 2 out of 3 attempts. As soon as my contract had expired I switched to Alltel. I have now switched to Alltel and have been happy with them for the last 4 months. As mentioned above the service in the Walmart on Anderson Rd. is not existant inside the store. Apparently inside the store the Walmart Wireless Inventory equipment interferes with the Alltel signal. I don't know if this a true statement since my Alltel rep told me, but as soon as I walk out of the store my service is 100% again.

Coverage works great in Petoskey and while on Anderson Rd, good coverage in buildings like Walmart, Office Max, Home Depot, Lowes. It is nice to be able to call family while shopping in Walmart for hours. Good job Cellular One.

Good coverage on Anderson Rd. Most highly traveled road in all of Emmet county. Coverage works great in all the buildings like Walmart, Office Max, Home Depot, Lowes and casino. It is very nice to have a provider that works well on the busiest road in all Emmet county. Alltel subscribers smack their phones and have to go outside.

Good GSM coverage in Petoskey and Bay Harbor.

No reception in the Petoskey Walmart. Alltel needs to put up a tower in this area.

GSM reception has went from ok to excellent in just the last few months in Petoskey and Northwest lower Michigan. I have heard that GSM coverage will be in all of Northeast lower Michigan and all of the U.P within one year from now.
