Very good phone and data coverage from the interior of my office building at 4th and Lafayette in Royal Oak.

Earlier this year AT&T put out a press release promoting a new cell tower and coverage in Royal Oak. The also opened a new store in Royal Oak. Sadly, the reality is that AT&T had more dead-zones than the local cemetery. Buyers remorse - don't do it, don't switch, don't buy their phones!

Drops calls consistently. Seems to be a "dead zone" for wireless calls. Just had a conversation that was dropped 4 times.

The entire Ferndale / Pleasant Ridge / Royal Oak area seems to be in some kind of shadow for AT&T Cingular. It's difficult to receive calls, difficult to make calls, even with 3 bars showing for reception quality. I'm amazed at how driving up and down Woodward, or even across 696 or 94 my reception completely disappears. Meanwhile, my wife has Verizon and seems able to make and receive calls anywhere she is.

Won't work inside or outside of the house 90% of the time.

switched from Cingular to T-Mobile and get terrible reception. something no bars. at work in Troy fine but at home in Royal Oak... a pain.

I get perfect reception, even in my basement. I have an old Cingular plan (2 years old) but do not want to upgrade yet until they shut me off. I am a little upset with their voicemail coming in late (sometimes 2 to 6 hours) but all the plusses make up for that one little minus.

I used to have Sprint which was terrible reception and now I have Verizon which is great but I don't like any of the phones they offer.

Poor reception. Dropped calls and phone doesn't ring at times.

I have the hardest time using the phone in my own house; usually the phone will ring just fine, but when I actually answer it drops to one or zero bars, or worse, suddenly goes to Analog Roam. I have this same problem in the Detroit airport, making this phone and carrier useless in the two places I probably need a phone most. I intend to dump Sprint immediately.

I can sit in my living room talking on the phone with 5 bars showing - without even moving the call drops and comes up network failure or no network service or network busy?????

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? Never DO YOU RECEIVE VOICEMAIL? Eventually CAN YOU GIVE OR RECEIVE TEXT? Sometimes Sprint reception was poor all along in this area, but in the past year, it is virtually non-existent. I am EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with my lack of reception and MAYBE, on a very clear day, I'll see 1 / 2 bar! NOT GOOD SPRINT!

In the 3+ years I've lived here I have not been able to talk on my cellphone while I'm home due to lack of bars. Sprint does not seem to cover this immediate area. When retrieving VM, the call continually drops. Text messages will work at times, but I often have to resend them 3 or 4 times to get them to go through. If I drive approx. a 1 / 2 mile to a mile away I can properly use my phone. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN SPRINT! When contract is up I'll use another provider.

Sprint is completely useless in this location. I cannot speak with anyone. Can barely retrieve my voicemail. Only occasionally am able to text message. I received a text message 3 DAYS AFTER it was sent to me! Why can't Sprint manage to cover this area? A half mile away I can get a couple of bars. A mile and a half away I get all bars! What is the problem with this area? USELESS... ... ... ... ... ...

I get 1 to 2 bars at my house, sometimes, and then it will drop the phone call within a few seconds. I had to pay for AT&T long distance service because I can't use the cell phone I have. I won't renew my service come January.

Virgil Mobile USA uses Sprint's PCS network so I'm not surprised to get bad reception in and around my house. I get decent enough reception on my Wild Card that I can talk and it hasn't yet dropped a call, however the sound quality is choppy. I can web surf, but it is slow. Texting works, although sometimes I have to resend the message. If I go more into the urban area, it works better.

There seems to be a Verizon Black Hole of reception in this area--I drop whatever call I'm on the minute I enter a three-block radius of this area. Terrible!

We just moved here from Troy, where our reception was already iffy at times. Now we can't get any reception at all, T-Mobile said they would need 3 days to send engineers out. (Based on reviews here, that won't help at all). I also received a voice mail a week later! That is absurd.

I was an ATT GSM customer and used to be able to get a signal by manually setting my phone to use the Cingular network. The exact minute the available networks switched from ATT, Cingular, T-Mobile to ATT /Cingular, T-Mobile my reception dissappeared. I have had 100% of my calls dropped since then. I can maybe get 10-30 seconds of a conversation in before it drops. After ~50 phone calls to Cingular (kept dropping) I was able to explain the problem. They told me my phone was obsoleted when the merger occurred. They then said that I must buy a Cingular phone and switch to a cingular plan, which is more expensive than what I had with ATT. The best part is how they play a message when you are on hold that says, "if you are an ATT customer, relax, you will not have to change phones or plans or sign a new contract as a result of this merger" and then the first thing the customer service person says when they pick up is, "you have to get a new phone, new plan, and sign a new contract as a result of this merger and you have to pay $150 if you want out of your current contract."

I get between 0-1 bar in my house. There is a 2 mile stretch on Crooks in between 12 and 14 Mile where the coverage is very poor. I have called and complained 10 times to T-Mobile asking them to let me out of my contract without having the pay the fee. They won't budge an inch. Will definitely switch carriers when contract expires in a month.
