During the week of June 20, 2011 we experienced a significant drop in signal strength -- dropped calls, hot cell phones, half-day battery life. Several years ago, at the recommendation of the Verizon landline serviceman who stood at the end of our driveway with both a Verizonwireless and an Alltel cellphone, we switched from Nextel to Alltel, it had the most bars. Yesterday I called Verizonwireless service and followed their recommendation to reprogram our phones -- *228 options 1 and 2, but with no detectable improvement, nor the promised return phone call to see if it worked. Maybe they couldn’t get through. So, has anyone else experienced this problem, particularly around Stony Lake or the Lake Michigan shoreline? Does anyone know, perchance, if Verizonwireless, now that it’s swallowed up by Alltel, is eliminating that former network and the tower that had serviced us? Also, has anyone else notice when checking the links on this Web site to the service providers that Verizonwireless is the sole one that fails to show multiple levels of service strength on their maps?
