I switched from Sprint to Verizon due to NO reception with Sprint. With the Droid phone and Verizon service I am able to connect and make calls from various locations on our property (mostly wooded)

Once the leaves drop and if I go to the highest point on our property I can at best only sometimes make a short call. Those using Nextel seem to have no problem on the same piece of property? We are 6.1 miles due west of US 131 at 8 mile road. Also 8.0 miles NW by GPS from the nearest tower.

I can't really use my phone at home about 4 miles west of the 131 freeway on 8 mile rd. in Stanwood. I drive 2 miles back toward the freeway and start to get 1 to 2 bars. Right at the freeway and about 1 / 2 mile on either side calls invariably get dropped. The same thing happens as you get close to old 131. Reception becomes more reliable as you approach Big Rapids and Grand Rapids.
