Sprint is real bad in this area, you got to go outside to make a call,They say they are working on towers,People are complaining about where is the 4g and I am paying for it, and they can't even provide me with 3 g service, when I am in the house it goes in to roaming mode,i have had Sprint for 10 years and just yesterday upgraded to a new phone thinking it might have a better signal, not, called Sprint they said they have tower issues in this area and would be repaired by july 31,2011.If not I am paying the fee and go to AT&T or verizon. You got a lot of people just doing text, probably more than the phone calls, and I think that they think as long as we have our wifi on andit takes less signal to text that they dont really care.Paying $10 more a month for BS

Inconsistent garbage just about sums up my signal, anywhere near my house I get garbled phone calls that make me sound like the guy on that commercial, can you hear me now? Phone calls usually just do not happen unless I am near a window, Cingular truly must have the least dropped calls because you can't DROP what you never picked up in the first place right? I use texting a lot and that goes well most of the time because my phones are good, however, even outside I get dropped calls and my bars never go above 2-3, at any time, even my parents and siblings all on family talk get only 3 bars at best. I do not talk much though unless its night time, I stick to texting so I can work around it.

Worked with verizon, they say there is not problem out here. Switched my phone once and it seemed to help. I was told they don't support inside buildings, I'd like to see them say that on wall street! In most cases Verizon has done me well, I hate the fact that I treated like a dummy when calling in. I familiar with wireless communications and understand the limitations however, I pay for my phone to work everywhere in my home area. I shouldn't have to walk outside a building to get reception!

Reception is zero to half strength at home (Northline and Pardee). A quarter mile south the reception goes to full strength. The local Verizon Store is less than a mile south of here and of course they have great reception. I called Verizon to check on signal strength here and they said everything checked out OK. I've had three LG and one Motorola phones with the same reception problems. They're working for me, Right!?

From start to finish Cingular service was a big disappointment! No outgoing calls could be made without failing at least 3 times before getting through. Once the call connected it was major garble as you ran outside to capture more signal the call would drop everytime. I never disconnected my Nextel service during this 15day nightmare, thank god. With Nextel I can be at Meijer on Eureka and call my husband who will be at home in our basement and get through no problem! Not only could I not get a signal at home but the Razr v3 was very hard to hear from. The volume in the earpiece was horrible. So even if I left home and could get all bars it was still the game of "hello, can you hear me now"

Constant dropped calls in the area of Goddard and Beech-Daly in Taylor. We live in this area and our Nextels rarely work inside of our house with garbled conversation out side of our house. Several calls to Nextel receive the same answer, "we are adding new towers." Friends with Nextel have the same problems, consider another cell phone carrier if you are shopping for a cell phone.

Verizon is very good. We have 17 Verizon phones. However, we get poor reception on the LG phones in some locations. Have two Motorolas that work GREAT every where. If your having Verizon reception problems, switch to a Tri band Motorola v325, what a difference!

Most people I know who use Nextel in this area have the same problem: Frequent poor connections when using the cell, frequent poor connections when using the 2-way. Sometimes you have full signal, sometimes no signal at all, and everywhere in between. Makes no difference if inside or out, day or night. We have different phone models, and that makes no difference either. It makes no difference even if you upgrade and update the software or phone. Nextel is aware of this problem, and keeps saying the tower has been fixed. It is NOT fixed! This has been going on for about 3 years. Sometimes, a 20-minute phone call involves most minutes of repeating everything you say, because the other person did not understand the words. The 2-way is the same thing. All our phones and 2-ways work in other areas if the tower is good. Many people have already switched carriers.

I was with Cingular for 6 years and reason why I switched was Cingular would not offer me any discounts for a new phone and I would have to sign a 2 year contract just like everyone else. So I decided to hooked up with Nextel 2 weeks ago. My phone has had strong signal everywhere. I even get a signal in the Taylor Meijer! Something that my Cingular service could not do. Voices actually sound clearer. No dropped calls yet. I also roam around the Livonia, Carleton, Woodhaven, Wyandotte, Romulus, Allen Park and Lincoln Park with no problem. Unless anything changes, I will be sticking with Nextel for awhile.

Had less than 10 dropped calls since I had Cingular service 4 years ago. Didn't notice any dropped calls within the last 2 years. I use my phone throughout taylor, Lincoln Park, Allen Park, Romulus, Dearborn, Livonia and Carleton. I always have full reception. When I'm up north around Tawas, I get strong signal also. I'm going to try Nextel this fall for their two way bacause all my friends have it. I'll post my reception for Nextel when I get it. If they're not good, I will be going back to Cingular.

Very strong signal strength at home. Works great in Sam's Club and everywhere in the Southland Mall too receiving and calling while my friends can't get a signal. Works in lower SW Michigan without a hitch. Works well in most locations even in basements at the clubs. I can't remember ever dropping a call to a landline. Only calls that I've lost are to people with cheap Verizon phones or other people's carriers dropping their call. Verizon doesn't offer the lower cost rollover plans like many of the other companies but they make up for it in reception and customer service. This phone operates on all of Verizon supported transmission formats and switches me to another carrier when Verizon is not in the area I'm traveling too. I've made calls on the alternate carriers with no additional charges for using the other carrier! I think I made a great choice switching to Verizon from AT&T and would never go back. Do research and get a good phone before you but, don't just take the free phone they usually offer. The phone makes a biggest difference in your reception, second get a reliable carrier that's awake at night as well as during the day.

Purchased 2 v551 phones with Cingular to replace my contract with Verizon due to the Roll-Over Minutes that Cingular offers. Verizon costs more but had better coverage too. Cingular is an all digital network that can't get it in places like walking down the hallway in the mall while Verizon could. Since I don't spend all day in the mall my friends will just have to wait till I'm done shopping. There are some spots in the mall where I get reception like in the courtyards. The Cingular phones are cool but the reception technology has reception issues. Verizon phones allow you to switch to the old analog system when you are out of range for digital carrier signals. Verizon works well up North (in the house) while Cingular works too but I have to walk outside to the street to place a call. Verizon works well in my downriver home's basement while Cingular is touch-and-go. Verizon just changed their policy with respect to Holidays. Verizon use to offer minute free calls on holidays but are now going to bill as peak minutes unless you call late at night. This change and the fact of the non-rollover minutes from Verizon pushed me to Cingular. I just have to get use to the downside now with the reception issues. I'm buying replacement antennas for my phones that will allow my to extend the v551 antennas up to 2 inches, maybe this will help my dropped calls in the mall.

Reception is very spotty just inside the doors and no reception whatsoever inside the general mall area. Phone says no service or emergency call only. Will not let you manually get another working network although options of Cingular and T Mobile are displayed.
