Service sucks in too many areas. I had no service in Las Vegas, on the strip.

One other comment, I have talked to Verizon Technical support many times and I have heard from several of their techs that Verizon makes absolutely no gaurentee that you can use your phone inside any building or if you have trees over 30 feet high around in an outside location. When I filed a complaint to have a Verizon guy come by and do a field check, they drove in front of my house and took measurements... My house is 1 / 4 mile off the road so that does me no good. Also I have trees that are over 30 feet around my house so they stick with that as the issue. Last time I checked with Verizon they said I have a tower 3 miles from my house and the reason I have signal issues is because I am not line of sight with the tower due to trees. Well, I can see the stupid blinking lights of their towers from my house so that is a bunch of BS. Also, Verizon said my XV6700 may have an Issue and they ordered me a warranty replacement without me saying I wanted one. Then, because the phone was scratched they tried to charge me full retail for the phone. I ended up buying the TREO 700P for for retail price ($650) and it has been just as bad and I have been through 6 of these so far. Since Cingular seams to be building towers like mad in west Michigan, I think I will go with them, although I have heard their ETF is just as bad as Verizon. Maybe I will just buy the phone straight out from now on and not worry about contracts. Oh yea here's the best part! Verizon graciously offered to let me downgrade my plan to a 50 minute per week contract that costs 29.99 per month for having so much trouble with my service. Gee that sounds just too good to be true!

Service is mediocre if I hold the phone above my head and talk with a headset. I still lose calls doing this. I drop every call if I use my phone as a regular phone and have it next to my head. I usually get 1 to 2 bars and they drop out instantly if I have the phone in both hands typing an email which locks up the phone. Been through 6 treos and they all do the same thing. Also service changes from extended to home network constantly which drops calls and locks up my phone. I've tried every which way to get outta my contract, but Verizon claims I am in a very good service area. I know part of it is my phone, but I have friends with normal good phones who have trouble in my area. I also have the xv6700 and it is just as bad plus the phone locks up constanty from switching towers. I also just magically lose service for 30 seconds and then I get 2 bars for a while then it cuts out for a half a minute and searches for another tower. Verizon Customer care is worthless. I might as well be talking to my dog in pig latin than talk to verizon. When my contract is up, I will stay up till midnight that morning to cancel at 12:01 AM.
