Our cell phones work everywhere except in our own neghborhood. Very frustrating. We enjoy the service overall, but will switch as soon as we find a carrier that has better reception in our neighborhood.

Like many of the other Eden Prairie reporters, we get lousy reception in the western side of the city. We formerly had TDMA service from AT&T and that was pretty good. After the merger we switched to Cingular GSM and have noted a significant deterioration in the quality or reception. Many callers cannot stand to talk to us on the cell and will ask that we call back on a land line. Mobile-to-mobile into the area is also terrible. I do not believe that that problems are solely Cingular’s fault however. The fact is that all of the cell towers are located on the east side of the city or the west side of Chanhassen. That leaves us in the dead zone. Take this into consideration when shopping around.

Not sure what the person is driving in that gets no signal from Cingular, it works perfecty fine for me UNLESS I go drive into those hills along A L P where you you need a darn a sat. phone :) otherwise signal strength is btwn 80-90%.. in hills drops to 20% for short periods during drive. Cingular is better than ATT Blue in MN... dont let that other person tell ya otherwise... is there better in MN... yes... Quest (but they are too expensive)

Used to get 5 bars with T-Mobile, switched to Cingular for the family plan and reception dropped to 1 bar when I'm lucky. No bar raising going on here, don't switch to Cingular unless you want to get screwed.

I was a T-Mobile customer and got great reception in Eden Prairie and the Minneapolis area. After switching to Cingular my reception was terrible. All I get now is garbled and dropped calls in my house, on the road and even downtown. Unfortunately I didn't discover the problem was Cingular (and not my new phone) until after the 30 day trial period. Do not switch to Cingular in Minnesota, you WILL regret it.

In building I often find that I roam onto Verizon, which offers 4 or 5 bars here. One or no bars with Sprint. With the antenna up I am able to make and receive calls, however, when on my hip, the phone often misses calls and has much delayed voicemail and text message notifications.

On Washington Ave S just north of Valley View I had no reception with Sprint if I was inside a building. People with T Mobile have had the same complaint. Only Cingular and Verizon work here.
