At&t is supposed to buy up T-Mobile in January 2012. Until then, T-Mobile service around mankato stinks. Hopefully the merger will increase service areas.

Really disappointed. I love this phone, but horrible reception and dropped calls are out of control. have to reboot often... especially when texting. I LOVE LG phones and have never had issues like this before... and i'm on replacement #3. When I was with Sprint, my LG Lotus was great. I'm moving to the Unlimited VM plans for financial reasons. With one or two exceptions, Sprint staff has been RUDE, RUDE, RUDE--not to mention incompetent. Verizon is the most expensive provider around. Looking for other options...

Sprint says no, but my Overdrive says yes... I'm getting some 4G service in Mankato! Very spotty and only in certain small areas (funny that my house is one of those areas!), but, it's there. I've picked it up with about 40% signal on North Broad St. near Washington, Spring and Elm streets. Also, I pick up 4G service in the ISJ Hospital at about 20%, but it's still enough to use and even get decent speeds (and unlimited use to boot). Does this mean Sprint is actually testing 4G here and will soon actually officially bring 4G to Mankato???? (This is how it happened in Minneapolis - before it was "official", I'd pick up 4G in very small pockets, and if I stayed still I could maintain a strong 4G link, but there were no guarantees as to where.)

Others call me and say they hear 8 rings, my phone rings only once or twice. This does not happen all the time, but makes for unreliable service. Makes for many missed calls. I hear these comments from other Verizon customers. Tech support has little help over the past two months.

Alltel has awesome coverage over the lower portion of Minnesota. The coverage remains in the Mankato area. I've been looking at AT&T for a future phone / contract, but I just can't jump on it with the long standing lousy reception here. Verizon is going to pick up Alltel, so Verizon will be king in this area soon enough. For folks questioning reception, realize the phone does play a big roll too. Some phones just have poor reception, dropped calls, etc. It's useful when buying a phone to look for user comments on reception, call quality, dropped calls, etc. Sometimes you can get away using a carrier with poorer coverage in a specific area by buying a phone that is more aggressive with the connection.

This company is ok, but nothing like the advertisements say. The recfeption is mediocre, at best. I can't get pics or video msgs. My relatives have T-Mobile and it works great. I will switch when this contract is done.
