At first my reception was terrible (1 bar at best outside) but then at the end of December the reception was great and has been since (I hope it stays this way). By far the best reception I have ever had with any carrier. I have tried T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint.
I am amazed at the reality that I can lose all signal in a major metropolitan city like minneapolis mn. I recenly discovered that there is still areas in the city still dont have service
There has always been a 1 / 2 mile oval in Edina MN with little or no 1900mhz service so Sprint, Verizon, etc don't work. 800mhz T-Mobile works but doesn't have data / pict features. Even analog is poor or non-existant. Right in an area of 100's of multi-million $ homes in middle of highly served metro area. WHY??
One lousy bar in the house, sometimes 2 out in the alley. Verizon recommends 'updating the phone's software' which I've done twice and which resulted in squat for improvement. Impossible to have a conversation for more than 15 seconds, break-up is so bad. Sometimes turning the speaker phone option on helps, go figure. East side of Central is even worse, lost calls are the rule, not the exception.
I have been very pleased with the reception Alltel has provided. With various roaming agreements / partners, I have had a solid signal in the Twin Cities area. The area it has shown a dropped call is in the Belle Plain to Shakopee area. Other than that, it's great! This phone model seems very good for reception.
Far better then Verizon indoors and out. I constantly get good signal in my house, even it my basement. Never got that with Verizon. I am able to walk freely throughout my house and talk on my cell. When I am outside reception is even better. Either way I get awesome reception, dont even consider if you live around here, they are so bad.
