I feel blessed to still have a TDMA Nokia 6560. Best reception hands down in the metro area and I have the best plan available ($35.99 for 900min and free MtoM). I have a Verizon work phone and my wife has a Cingular GSM and the TDMA is still better even though the technology is fading. Unfortunately, good call reception has gave way to downloading Green Day ringtones. Wireless phone technology is going in the wron direction.

Near NW border of Minneapolis proper, very poor or nonexistant Nextel coverage. Problem has been on and off since last year.

Absolutely awful coverage in this area. Spotty at best in area bounded by 54th, Penn, Crosstown and Xerxes. Have called it in and Cingular tells me it's at acceptable coverage levels. BS ! I say.

I've been a cellphone user for 12 years - all with the same number and same carrier. Celllular One > ATT Wireless > Cingular. The phones are cooler, but reception keeps getting noticeably worse. Now we have 3 phones in the house (this plus 2 LG) and none work very well. Dropped calls, static and all around dissatisfaction. I was going to move directly to Verizon, since Consumer Reports says they're generally the best, but this most excellent local forum is changing my mind. T-Mobile? Verizon? Hmmm.

I'm delighted with Verizon reception in my home. Infinitely better than my former carrier (Qwest)which had a total dead area here.

As of Dec. 19, my signal qualityon all three LG VX 5200 phones has fallen off a cliff. Zero or 1 bar, dropped calls. Verizon says that it is a "known" problem (too many users and too few towers) but that there are NO plans to fix it. I am ticked off as I just renewed my two year contract in Sept. after getting good service the previous two years.

Very variable - some days 3-4 bars, some days none. Many dropped calls, even with 4 bars.

Very little coverage in St. Louis Park neighborhoods. Sprint told me they do not guarantee service indoors. VM taked up to three days to appear on phone.

No reception to speak of with Cingular. I get one bar if I'm lucky. My girlfriend has T-Mobile and has never had a drop-out. I would highly recommend against using Cingular in this neighborhood... As soon as my contract ends I'm going to T-Mobile.

Absolutely no signal in most of the places inside the building. 1 or 2 bar close to the wall, 3 bar by the window and outside. Total Waste. Verizon has 5 bars even inside the building

Worst cell phone service provider. I drop 80% of the calls I make, and often can't make / receive calls at all. Customer service is terrible as well. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH NEXTEL!

People who use Cingular have little to no reception in my building, regardless of the phone type. My co-workers have every other service and none of them have problems (they can even use their phones in the elevators). I am required to put my head against the window in order to make calls with Cingular GSM.

Sometimes I can get a signal in the house, sometimes not. It's a 50 / 50 chance the phone will ring when in my house. There seems to be a radius of several blocks with very weak signal.

Good signal out and in the house. Signal decreases some while in the basement, but still better that 50%.

VERY poor. Dropped calls, no service around house or in yard.

Rarely got signal in house. Had to go outside or near windows. Constant dropped calls / inability to make calls. Called Sprint and found out we were in a "known coverage hole." Thanks for the useless $450 phone! Both T-Mobile and Cingular (GSM) get full signal in this location.
