I had hoped that with a new cell phone and switching from AT&T to Cingular the reception would improve. It sucks -- really bad. I cannot hear anyone who calls me on my cell. I cannot hear my voice mail when I check from home. When the power went out in my home because of a storm, I could not use my cell phone to call the electric company. T-Mobile is putting up a tower a few blocks away. I'm praying that AT&T / Cingulary share towers (I think I read somewhere that they do) and that my reception will improve. I love my Treo 650, but it is just as limited as my Nokia 5160 was in terms of reception. I've heard rumors that North Minneapolis was intentionally left with few towers to make it harder for the drug dealers to connect with buyers via their cell phones. Probably just an urban myth, but it sure seems possible--except they all seem to get better reception than I do. They must not use Cingular. I'm bummed that I signed up for 2 years to get the discount on the Treo.

Terrible reception in my home. I have to run out onto my deck to get 1, maybe 2 bars. My friends with Verizon and Sprint seem to get decent (better than mine) reception at my home. I got ZERO reception inside Block E (Downtown Minneapolis) and had to find a land line to call my friend's (who was lost in a bar in "the block" somewhere) cell phone which worked perfectly. VERY FRUSTRATING!

Phone cuts out in my basement, signal upstairs can be marginal at best. I can see verizons tower down the road (like 3 blocks) its a 800mhz tower. any news of 1900 coverage soon? I think we need 1900 before we can even think of evdo

Very bad reception. 80% of calls go directly to VM and / or the connetion fails within 1-2 minutes. The phone is virtually worthless at this location. Reception is better in other twin city locations but it is still very poor. About half of my calls fail do to poor signal. Can you hear me now? NO! I think that I am going to try T-mobile.

Used to have AT&T but with the takeover or whatever with cingular, my service has been horrible. I frequently have no service in the middle of minneapolis, drop at least 1 in 3 calls, and when I get calls its choppy and I can't hear clearly at all. Cingulars customer service blames the frequent droped calls on "needing to restart my phone everyday." Yeah, that really explains why the service had deteriorated over the past few months.

I used to have AT&T but with the takeover by Cingular, I have little to no reception in addition to averaging a droped call every 3 calls. Frequently get no service in the middle of minneapolis.

I virtually never get above one bar, even when I'm outside. I've lived in Boston and used T-Mobile, and there reception was great. Now that I'm in Minneapolis, I'm definitely switching. The reception on T-Mobile here is terrible, and I drop calls all the time.

Very poor reception outdoors, and none indoors in the general area. Phone rarely gets more than a bar of signal strength in bout a 1mi radius of here. Too bad it's where I live and work. Tried updating phone firmware monthly with *228, replaced the phone, and complained to Verizon many times about the quality of service - yet they insist everything is fine. I cancelled and went to Nextel after trying a friend's phone for a day.

The entire Plymouth / Wayzata area has pretty good reception, and so has pretty everywhere else I've gone in the area. Even in "dead zones" for everyone else, I still usually get atleast one bar. The only place I haven't had service is in the basement of the high school. No droppped calls or anything yet.

Verizon reception in the greater NE Mpls 'Hood is pretty lousy. From about 24th Ave NE, up to 37th, and from Central to Stinson is really bad. The tower must be on the West side of that area, because the coverage is better on the west to almost non-existent on the east side. I usually drop a call at Stinson and 37th, and also at Johnson and St. Anthony Blvd.
