Cingular is famous for poor quality of their GSM service in this area - actually had a Cingular tech support person trying to troubleshoot my problems comment that "the Twin Cities is spotty at best, looks like we've got 1 / 4 the towers we need there" but this is one of those areas where there is NO coverage rather than just garbled speech and dropped calls.

This is awful, I just moved into my place and if I position my fone just right(i'm talking within the mm) I can squeak into the 2 bar range, just enough to send txt messages. This is my house fone so I need to find an antenna adapter.

Terrible reception in this area. Cingular told me there weren't any towers in the area. This, of course, was after I signed up for two year plan... It's shocking that a major company would have a weak spot like this in the middle of a major city. Don't buy Cingular for this neighborhood! (Longfellow)

I am very happy with T-mobile. We switched from AT&T last year and couldn't be happier: AT&T (now Cingular) never got any service anywhere, T-Mobile has great coverage. I have T-Mobile as a personal phone and Verizon for work and T-Mobile has consistantly better coverage within the metro area.

The LG VX4500 phone does not get a signal in this area at all, I called Verizon and they told me the whole area of Bloomington is in their Digital Network. They told me I should buy a 3 mode phone at retail I told them no thanks. If you are in the area of W 89 ST in Bloomington MN 55437 be careful of Verizon!

I can usually only get up to 2 bars for any particular location within my house. I have to go outside to get better reception.

Reception typically drops as soon as phone is in usage. Frequent dropped calls as well as lagged response from network (ie I hit the end button and takes 20 seconds to end the call). Not to mention the less than intelligent customer service and the "it's not our fault" attitude towards the equipment they endorse. I'm counting the days until my contract expires!

Recently switched to T-Mobile and I have found service to be below the quality of my old AT&T TDMA in all respects so far. I have tried 3 different phones / models during the trial period. In the house there is an average of 2 / 5 bars. I have had a couple dropped calls, one "Network Busy," and many breakups in voice quality. In addition, when driving around the metro I had a few "Call Failed" instances when there was good signal strength. More problems in 2 weeks with T-Mobile than in 2 years of AT&T TDMA. There were also some problems with connecting calls, like 30 seconds of silence before ringing or pickup. Customer service has been very courteous though, giving 75 free minutes for the dropped calls, and notfiying me that there will be service improvement in my ZIP in the next few months, so we are sticking with T-Mobile because they are by far the best priced.

Inside my building on the University of Minnesota East Bank campus, I get either little or no reception. It's a complete dead-zone. Other providers have good reception, however.

Just superb coverage within the Twin Citites metro. Dropped calls are very, very rare with this service in this area. I do have an issue with calls not ringing, and going directly into VM, but I think that is a common issue with my phone, not their network. My only network complaint is that VMs can sometimes not showup on my cell phone for up to 3 hours after they are left during peak usage times. Althought this has not happened to me within the last 6 months, they may have fixed this issue. Signal strength is 4 bars on first floor, 5 bars on second.
