Made the mistake of dropping the land-line phone; sorry I did. Terrible cell reception! Customer service has been superb thus far; it's only been a few months though. Got tired of H.S. drop-outs and people at Corporate office with T-Mobile telling me 30 different things; dropped them for Verizon... now who do I try?!

It is ok. Get coverage everywhere, but when jumping from tower to tower when phone is not in use, it has many dead spots. Push to talk feature sucks. NE Mpls doesn't have the best coverage, but downtown is great. Don't expect to have service in any large building (Target, Cub, Walmart, Menards, etc.)

The reception here is 2 bars with occasional signal drop and u lose the call. You have to walk out of the house or apartment to keep the conversation. I tried different phones ( Treo 750 and Cingular 8525) but nothing changes they just need a tower nearby. 1 bar when I am inside house

We used Verizon for years in Uptown Mpls. with great results--four or five bars all the time and rarely did we have a dropped call. Now that we've moved to Longfellow we can't make calls from home or, for that matter, anywhere within a 1 / 2 mile range from our house. After trying to convince us that the problem is with our phones (which are six months old) we finally had a manager at Verizon tell us this is a "known issue" and that they plan to install a new tower to serve this neighborhood "sometime within the next two years." In the meantime I think we'll be forced to get a landline or, perhaps, tying coffee cans together with string, which would provide better reception than we receive from Verizon.

In my home, most calls go directly to voicemail, but then I'm immediately alerted to a voicemail being received, but the phone doesn't ring. So I'm unhappy with Verizon. I've also tried T-Mobile and had similarly poor reception. I also have a Tracphone, and have surprisingly good reception.

Cingular is much worse than Verizon. And absolutely no service along the Superior North Shore. Who is good in Minnesota?

Signal is terrible. Many calls don't go through on initial dial and horrible reception when someone calls me. Seems to be getting worse since Cingular became the "New AT&T".

First off, I must say that a short review of comments here shows a marked lack of consideration to which phone people may be using. My personal experience is with Nokia phones, as they seem to be the ones with the greatest battery life, clearest reception quality, and best signal strength. I base this on not just my phones, but the many friends I have who seem to fall for the marketing machine that is Motorola, not to mention the always inexpensive (read also Cheap) Samsung and LG phones. In any case, inevitably my Nokia phones perform superior to any other phone I compare them against in all facets of usage, and I have had them since the old bag phones (yikes!). As for coverage now, I have been an AT&T / Cingular customer for over ten years... I won't say that their coverage has always been perfect- it hasn't- however, the only dead spots I have ever had consistently in the Cities have been in three places (regardless of which Nokia phone I was using at the time): an approximate 1 / 4 mile area in the Plymouth / Maple Grove border along 494 [calls dropped immediately passing through this area - this issue has apparently been resolved as this hasn't happened for a long time now]; inside the Maple Grove Wal-Mart [again, seems to be resolved recently as I am getting decent reception now... also, wouldn't put it past Wal-Mart to somehow purposely block cell reception to prevent competitive price / stock comparisons... LOL!]; and finally (as well as coincidentally?) around the same parallel 1 / 4 mile area as previously mentioned but in the Columbia Heights and Fridley areas along Central Ave. and University Ave. [again calls dropped immediately while driving through there]. Other than these three areas, my coverage as been virtually perfect, outdoors as well as indoors [highrises, apts., underground garages, etc.] and I travel frequently all over the Cities, from Buffalo to Stillwater, from Wyoming to Farmington... . And come to think of it, outside the cities in Minnesota, virtually the entire 35 from TC to Duluth is great (I even was able to make phone calls from the Apostle Islands in Wisconsin on a good day!)
