I use to be with Qwest and always had good reception - but since I got my iphone Im stunned by the number of dropped calls I have with the ATT network - every day, several times a day calls get dropped - I never had this problem with other phones in the past. I'm not sure if it is partly the fault of the iphone but I have a friend who also have an iphone and he experiences the same thing. I live in Summit HOuse Condos which is all concrete and a high-rise and reception in the house it not good at all - better outside for sure - but even then - the dropped calls drive me nuts. But I love the phone too much to part with it right now.
What kind of joke is it that only half a mile from downtown that I can barely get a signal and that I often drop calls driving down the street? In my building it's practically a dead zone!
Have been with Verizon for over 6 years the reception in south mpls is poor as is the reception in West St. Paul where we lived prior. You would think it would be to their benifit to fix this known problem, it has to be time consuming for their service staff to field the complaints regarding this problem. What ever reason it has to be cusing problems for a great number of customers. Hey maybe when the leaves fall the reception will improve NOT!
i get no reception in my apartment and must go outside get any reception. Even here, though, 1 out of every 3 calls is dropped. I also get almost no reception at the U of M campus and in several other spots in the cities. I was told that I needed to buy a new phone by the reps in the downtown store because my phone is so old that it will naturally have bad reception. I just moved to the cities three weeks ago and had perfect reception all over the state I previously lived in. I asked friends of mine that work for Cingular in my home state about it and they said that the reps response was more a ploy to get me to get into a new contract or to spend money on a new phone. I will admit that friends with T-Mobile and Verizon report substandard reception in my apartment, but not as many problems with dropped calls and lack of reception as I have.
My wife and I each have the XV6700 PocketPC and we must give you one bit of advice when considering this phone. DON'T DO IT! Reception is sub-poor most anywhere in the cities, but have to admit at the State Fair yesterday and we both had full bars. I have friends that have Verizon and their phones are getting coverage nicely... it is my opinion that this phone is a very poor design. It runs WindowsCE so that may be most of its problem. ;)
DO NOT USE AT&T in the Minneapolis Market. I am counting the days to say BYE BYE to AT&T as my contract finally expires December 07. I constantly struggle to get a signal in both uptown and downtown areas. Over the last year I've asked about this at the cingular / att retail kiosks - and even the employees have agreed lots of signal related complaints come through all the time!
