I get horrible reception with my LG phone on Verizon. I'm really disappointed! I've gotten software updates, etc., but friends that also have Verizon have problems down in this area (South Minneapolis). It is also really bad around 35th and Cedar. Sprint is no better. I finally was able to get out of my Sprint contract several years ago. I couldn't even keep a call going long enough to make my full complaint to customer service. It kept getting dropped. I had to call Sprint from my land line. I think they got the gist of the problem. Ugh! I may try T-Mobile or a different carrier. Isn't it something that you could get better reception through the hills of Utah or through some rural area in Minnesota than in the city of Minneapolis?
Can I just say this? DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY! The service totally sucks - every time you switch towers the "free" roaming - just drops you. So you're constantly being dropped unless standing still - and that's only if you're standing within range of a decent cell tower. They do NOT care about it - it's nothing to get stuck in a tech support queue for 45-60 minutes only to be given a half-answer and no clear solution. This is a really raw deal including the whole thing where ATT Wireless was supposedly acquired by Cinguler - they told all of us we needed new phones (at a price) and now guess what? They are back to being ATT Wireless again. We were screwed, and it's still going on. PAY ATTENTION TO THIS POST EVERYONE. DO NOT GET ATT (Cingular) if you live in this area.
very poor signal I have to borrow other people's cell phones (non cingular / att ) to make calls I talked to Cingular representative about this issue and up to now no word from them
There is a HUGE black hole from Olivia till just outside of Watertown that makes me think... "tell me why I have this company 'serving' me???" Driving on that hwy with small children, I just pray that my car mever breaks down or I have an emergency!
Absolutely horrible reception where I live. I just moved 9 months ago only three miles from my previous location and my reception has turned into crap. It was decent three miles away, but now I have to sit at the end of my bed, upstairs to even receive a phone call and talk. Anywhere else in the house shows no bars at all. And even when I'm outside, the reception is horrible. Have been with Sprint for 8 years and am cancelling when my contract is up.
Made the mistake of dropping the land-line phone; sorry I did. Terrible cell reception! Customer service has been superb thus far; it's only been a few months though. Got tired of H.S. drop-outs and people at Corporate office with T-Mobile telling me 30 different things; dropped them for Verizon... now who do I try?!
It is ok. Get coverage everywhere, but when jumping from tower to tower when phone is not in use, it has many dead spots. Push to talk feature sucks. NE Mpls doesn't have the best coverage, but downtown is great. Don't expect to have service in any large building (Target, Cub, Walmart, Menards, etc.)
The reception here is 2 bars with occasional signal drop and u lose the call. You have to walk out of the house or apartment to keep the conversation. I tried different phones ( Treo 750 and Cingular 8525) but nothing changes they just need a tower nearby. 1 bar when I am inside house
We used Verizon for years in Uptown Mpls. with great results--four or five bars all the time and rarely did we have a dropped call. Now that we've moved to Longfellow we can't make calls from home or, for that matter, anywhere within a 1 / 2 mile range from our house. After trying to convince us that the problem is with our phones (which are six months old) we finally had a manager at Verizon tell us this is a "known issue" and that they plan to install a new tower to serve this neighborhood "sometime within the next two years." In the meantime I think we'll be forced to get a landline or, perhaps, tying coffee cans together with string, which would provide better reception than we receive from Verizon.
