We almost always have a "perfect" signal in our neighborhood, inside and outside of buildings. This was not the case with T-Mobile or Verizon.

I always get great reception. I've been with T-Mobile for three years and I've only had a few minor problems. I suspect it has more to do with my phone than T-Mobile, but I have no way of knowing since I've never used another carrier. I have a buddy who lives across the street who's with AT&T, and his reception is great too. He also owns a Razr. Most of our other neighbors complain constantly about the "lousy" coverage in our neighborhood. The people across the street just switched from AT&T to Verizon and their reception still sucks. I'm pretty sure the phone makes the biggest difference.

love love love tmobile. Almost always great reception. I have had many different phones on the T-Mobile network (4 I think). 2 samsungs, a Nokia and now the iphone. They all have worked great. I get great reception in my house (north Mnpls) and all over downtown minneapolis and inside the buildings. I also have a Sprint phone and I HARDLY if even get reception in my house. I love the ease of swapping SIM cards into whatever phone I feel like with Tmobile. Tmobile forever baby!

T-Mobile has improved significantly - recently I even get reception in the building elevator. Keep up with the tower expansions. Just last year over half of my calls were dropped inside my building.

The Alltel service has been very pleasing in the Mpls / St Paul metro areas. I have been able to place calls and have never had a situation where it hasn't worked well.

First off, I must say that a short review of comments here shows a marked lack of consideration to which phone people may be using. My personal experience is with Nokia phones, as they seem to be the ones with the greatest battery life, clearest reception quality, and best signal strength. I base this on not just my phones, but the many friends I have who seem to fall for the marketing machine that is Motorola, not to mention the always inexpensive (read also Cheap) Samsung and LG phones. In any case, inevitably my Nokia phones perform superior to any other phone I compare them against in all facets of usage, and I have had them since the old bag phones (yikes!). As for coverage now, I have been an AT&T / Cingular customer for over ten years... I won't say that their coverage has always been perfect- it hasn't- however, the only dead spots I have ever had consistently in the Cities have been in three places (regardless of which Nokia phone I was using at the time): an approximate 1 / 4 mile area in the Plymouth / Maple Grove border along 494 [calls dropped immediately passing through this area - this issue has apparently been resolved as this hasn't happened for a long time now]; inside the Maple Grove Wal-Mart [again, seems to be resolved recently as I am getting decent reception now... also, wouldn't put it past Wal-Mart to somehow purposely block cell reception to prevent competitive price / stock comparisons... LOL!]; and finally (as well as coincidentally?) around the same parallel 1 / 4 mile area as previously mentioned but in the Columbia Heights and Fridley areas along Central Ave. and University Ave. [again calls dropped immediately while driving through there]. Other than these three areas, my coverage as been virtually perfect, outdoors as well as indoors [highrises, apts., underground garages, etc.] and I travel frequently all over the Cities, from Buffalo to Stillwater, from Wyoming to Farmington... . And come to think of it, outside the cities in Minnesota, virtually the entire 35 from TC to Duluth is great (I even was able to make phone calls from the Apostle Islands in Wisconsin on a good day!)

Had trouble in the past with other carriers, but T mobile is fabulous in my house, outside of my house, and so far everywhere I go in the metro area.
