1 bar occassionally. Text messages possible rarely. Very dangerous for me a grandma with grandchildren staying at the campground and no way to communicate to husband or anyone in case of emergency

Although I hate to give money to Verizon, they do have the best reception. I get reception in every building that I have gone into within Winona. The only place I lose reception is along 43. I do want to switch to T-Mobile with their no contract plan and save some money! But I can't find any reviews from people that have T-Mobile from Winona, MN. If you have T-Mobile please review!

I live in a valley just south of the Winona city limits along Route 17. The reception is poor at best. On a good day, I get one bar standing outside in my driveway. Calls frequently drop out. Even on good days, I usually get no bar or one bar in my house. The phone only works in the north west corner of my home, but only with no or one bar on the best days. It isn't the phone, because I got the same poor reception with a Motorola phone.

Reception is best in Winona area with Verizon, because it is not in the Native CDMA area, it pulls from both Alltel and Sprint towers in all areas. The only spot I really noticed was weak was Stockton where I got 1 bar.

T-Mobile doesn't have their own coverage in the area so my phone connects to either AT&T towers or Einstein PCS towers. I find that I have the best luck with reception if I set my phone to automatically connect to only Einstein PCS towers, especially at my home near the WSU campus where I will get a full signal with Einstein and only 1 bar with AT&T. Inside WSU buildings coverage is very spotty with both carriers' signals. I haven't tried the St. Mary's campus but I have a very weak signal on Hwy. 14 in that area. Dead zones in the area include Hwy. 43 between Winona and I90, everything in between MN City and Wabasha on Hwy. 61, and north of the bridge on the Wisconsin side of the river including Fountain City. I've had no signal inside a handful of businesses.

Typically ok at west campus. On main campus I'll occassionally catch a bar or two but never inside. Absolutely nothing downtown!
