Over the last few months reception in River Market has improved dramatically. Can go all over and never drop a call. Still drop calls at intersection of 635 and I-29 as well as the intersection of Overland Parkway and I35. No reception at a couple of lakes up North. Great reception and internet connection in the rest of the area.

No problems, rarely get a drop call. The problem, I think lies in the phone. My Sanyo is GREAT. When I first moved here from STL I had a Samsung phone which was HORRIBLE. I was getting droped calls everyday, sometimes 4-5 times during one call. I will Never buy another Samsung again ever. I am sticking with either the Sanyo or Motorola.

After over a decade of getting jacked by Sprint I switched to Virgin Mobile's Pay-as-you-go service last December, and I couldn't be more pleased. The phone works well, has decent reception wherever I use it, and gets signal in places a lot of my friend's phones don't, like the middle of a farm field in Cameron, MO. Furthermore, their customer service people understand what "customer service"means, and are always helpful and pleasant. (Plus which, they all speak and understand English). I would strongly recommend to anyone who is sick to death of bad service and surprise fees from Sprint, AT&T, MCI, or anyone else switch to Virgin Mobile!

T-Mobile's service in the area has been disintegrating since I first got my cell in 2004. 3G never engages, EDGE if I'm lucky. No reception half of the time. 3 bars is a miracle. I got the phone to tether to my PC, but I never break the 20kb / s mark. I have a better chance piggy-backing off of my neighbor two doors down's wifi than with this phone. I've spent countless hours on the phone with customer service, including 2 phone replacements. It clearly is not the individual phone.

I'm at 1-2 bars indoors about 363 days a year, the other two days, I hover between 2-3 bars. I sure wish AT&T would add a tower on the Plaza. Its ridiculous coverage in this area. I was considering T-Mobile (HTC-HD7 coming out), but none of the other carriers seem to be any better?

I can't get reception in my apartment (an old building ) and am looking to switch carriers. The phone and T-Mobile have worked well for me until now, but I can't have a phone that says "seraching -- emergency calls only" when I'm inside, especially since I'm not getting a land line. Very frustrating.

If your standing still and in certain key places in Kansas City you can get 4 out of 5 bars. You're guaranteed to drop calls a few times if you decide to drive around with it. Calls from my work place down at 104 and Holmes get 0 to 2 bars out of 5.

I live in the neighborhood here and get perfect reception through T-Mobile. I'm getting ready to move though, and am rather scared because their coverage map looks to have little to no reception in my new neighborhood, and I signed up for a year only about 4 months ago.

I thought it was a bad phone. Everyone I work with gets poor reception with their Sprint phones in that area. The Verizon phones that people have get excellent reception. I'm less than a mile from a Sprint store too! The drive home through Westport to Overland Park gets dropped calls and no reception whatsoever.

MyTouch 4G is barely a 2G since tethering to my computer doesn't work for videos or NetFlix. I do not have problems with dropped calls ever. My frustration level is at its peak. And unfortunately only 1 in 25 customer reps isn't a real incompetent idiot.

constantly dropped calls... 75% calls never ring or show up on missed calls, messages show up days later, totally frustating. Sprint also tells you they will credit you for the problem and then you find out they haven't credited you, or written it in the notes, then they tell you they are sorry and can't help you after the charges are on the bill. Round and round every month! They are getting worse and worse for customer service!
