I hardly ever have problems anywhere in Saint Louis (or any other city I visit regularly like Detroit, Chicago, Las Cruces). I have only EVER dropped calls in Ladue where all carriers have fewer towers, and in the Lindbergh tunnell under the airport. My business partner is on Cingular and is constantly dropping calls. I think service must have everything to do with the competence of the phone!
Reception here now is near perfect. I live in an apartment near this intersection. When I first got my phone in Jan 2005, I could not use it inside the apartment. I complained to Cingular on a daily basis.. Now there is a new Cingular cell tower about 150 yards from my apartment.. Works great!! No more problems.
Poor reception outside, especially around South Grand. Just 1 bar inside most brick buildings in South City and calls usually don't ring (but I will get the "voicemail ring").
I spent $400 to get out of a contract with Sprint 5 years ago. They sucked and when you called to complain they charged you $4 to talk to a person. So, I Paid a $500 deposit $200 for a phone with Nextel 5 years ago. The service WAS great till about 6 months ago when they started merging with Sprint. Now calls drop everywhere. Customer service turned into a joke. They told me it was my outdated phone and sent me a new one. What they didn't tell me was that by accepting the new phone I was automatically sighned into a two year contract. My new phone drops calls in all the same places and as an added bonus my messages sometimes take a day to reach me. When I told them I wanted out of the contract they without the fee they told me the only way out was proof of death. Anybody know how to forge death certificate? SPRINT SUCKS AND NOW SPRINT TOGETHER WITH NEXTEL SUCKS.
We are in a fringe area. I get 3-4 bars inside my home whereas Sprint provided one bar or none and Verizon is very sketchy on two other phones in the family. I've not had a dropped call in the 4 months I have had the phone. This phone does better than my daughter's LG on Cingular, but Cingular seems to give us a stronger signal than the other carriers.
