Almost no reception within a couple blocks of my house. Sometimes it will ring, but the call doesn't come through.

Outside buildings, reception varies from 1-2 bars; inside buildings it varies from 0-1 and occassionally reaches 2. Calls drop frequently, cell goes into roam unless you disable it, drops in and out of the network, and misses incoming calls yet miraculously receives voice mail. Sometimes fails to place a call and provides no reason other than error, try again. I have to stay within a 5 foot area of my apartment near the patio door to effectively use the phone and even that isn't always reliable.

Constant droped calls when on line for more than three mins. Sometimes get 4 bars, but then goes down to 2 and below. Sprint service says im being droped by high usage problems in area. Seems like other callers are taking over mine, because of my weaker reception.

Reception here is average. Typically I have anywhere from 2 to 3 bars of reception. Never 4 or 5. Usually 3 bars is a pretty decent conversation. 2 bars will have occasional static. Going outside helps a bit. I don't have dropped calls however, and AT&T customer service is pretty good. Driving east or west of here, reception improves. There are towers along Tesson Ferry and I-55. I think I just happen to be in between towers.

With AT&T TDMA I can't call or receive calls from home (3rd floor apt. in the central west end) or work (9th floor of McDonnell Peds). Reception around Wash U Medical School is also very bad, only 3 bars at best. So far I only get good reception at the Wash U undergrad campus and in the parking lot of Schnucks on Lindell. I have dropped all of my calls... so I will be cancelling my service with AT&T.

We pay too much so we expect too much! Phones are just low power 2 way radios. And why can't the galleria mall get some repeaters in there for us? Since the new Cingular merger I am getting the best reception ever. Even in parts of bourbon Missouri on the meramec my phone works. Sprint, Nextel, Verizon... no service. Those signal bars on your phone are subjective to whatever the phone maker deems signal strength and not every phone has the same ability to keep a low signal. I have Nokia 8390, Siemens S56 and Motorola v70. The v70 is choppiest, the Siemens hands down sounds the best. The Nokia works very well but sounds a bit more harsh than the Siemens, which holds a signal very well.

I realize the area won't let towers be built, but since I am out here most of the time, I am unable to have reliable phone calls without experiencing dropped signals. Have upgraded software, but may have to try new phone as well.
Elevation is good and no buildings in line of sight, but can't tell where closes tower is located to verify no obstructions.

In most of St Louis city and South County I get between 4 and 5 bars of service. Of course where I need it the most, in my apartment, I only get 1-3 bars. I can manually search for a different network and usually land "Extended Area" (which I assume is a hop to Cingular towers since it's the only other TDMA service in the area) for 4-5 bars, but that doesn't help for incoming calls. Overall I would recommend it for anyone in the area, since with the 30 day risk-free trial you can easily tell by then if it will work where you live. I get by even with the low reception in my apartment fairly well. I am hoping the merger with Cingular will boost reception, since I have heard Cingular's reception is top-notch in the area.

I cannot use my phone in my house. Sometimes my phone will not even ring - then much later it will beep that someone left a voicemail. I went to the galleria this weekend. The whole time I was there my phone was on roaming. Constantly beeping / changing back and forth between roaming and weak signal wherever I go. Went to Chicago last week and could not even talk on my phone in my hotel room. The only place I seem to have a good signal is in Bridgeton around 270 & the rock road. I just switched to Verizon from Sprint because I always had dropped calls / bad reception with them too. Is there any good cell phone service in St. Louis?

I live in a two story brick apt with lots of windows across from a large city park. 90% of the time I get one bar or less on this phone sitting in my living room. Pretty sad since I'm in the city limits of metro St. Louis.
