I work out in St. Charles drive all of the greater St. Louis area and haven't had a dropped call since I moved to St. Louis (last March). Usually drive 40 / 64 to 170 to 70 or just 70 all the way. My favorite part about my service with U.S. Cellular is that I can use it in the underground garage of my loft building and on the elevator.
I hardly ever have problems anywhere in Saint Louis (or any other city I visit regularly like Detroit, Chicago, Las Cruces). I have only EVER dropped calls in Ladue where all carriers have fewer towers, and in the Lindbergh tunnell under the airport. My business partner is on Cingular and is constantly dropping calls. I think service must have everything to do with the competence of the phone!
verizon, good reception-but it should be for a monopoly. is there any service you can get and the company isn't just an evil-dooer with a decider for a ceo?
I get good coverage from my office in Clayton. However, I have gotten poor coverage from my 8th story apt in CWE and my apartment in Lafayette Square. The company has tried numerous software / networks tricks and I just happen they didn't cost me anything. Also, the V400 is a phone with numerous bugs. I only purchased it for GSM because Cingular reps convinced me my service woes were because of my old cell phone model (the first Motorola flip phone, but I forget the model number) I have friends who have had sucess talking freely in both my apartments. They are with T-Mobile and Sprint. Cingular is also on the higher end.
