Why I hate 4G Every daycits the same thing. My phone says hspa+ but I'm still getting 3G speeds. And 4g severely drains my battery. AT&T needed to get off their butt's and improve the signal in this area because I'm stuck on contract for two years and I don't intend to have crappy data speeds the whole time.

I have AT&T and live in the Eastover area of northeast Jackson, MS and it is unbelievable that we cannot get cell phone coverage in this area. Inside my home, my cell phone won't ring, but I occassionally get an alert saying that I have a voicemail because my cell phone never rang. When driving the short 2.5 miles from my home to Interstate 55N, my calls drop in two... TWO separate locations every single time. AT&T service in this area and many others is atrocious and I am looking at other alternatives right now.

Inside my apartment, reception is sometimes variable. I have to either sit in the living room or bedroom close to the window to use the phone. Around Jackson, there are some random dead spots where my calls don't get completely dropped, but the person on one end can't hear anything while the other person can still hear. I'm thinking of changing carriers, but it looks like Cingular may have the best reception after all.

I had 2 friends with Cingular test reception at my house, and it was fine (with Sprint I always had random reception in my house... was barely passable). It was perfect for them. So, I switched to Cingular and got the Sony Ericsson phone. Great phone, and anywhere OTHER than my house, great reception (almost always 4 bars). However, in my house, I get the same random signal I did with Sprint, but it is even worse. Maybe I live in a weird spot, so I cant say its the phone... other than I guess some phones handle poor reception better than others. When I say I get variable reception, I mean that over a 5 second period it will fluctuate between 0.5 bars and 4 bars. Sigh. I thought it was because I lived near the National Guard and Red Cross, but walking closer to either building makes my reception go to 4 bars solid. So, my review would be GOOD anywhere but here... in my house, its POOR. So, maybe its not the phone or Cingular, but some interaction, or maybe I'm in limbo.

Tried Cellular South's unlimited plan for one month, but the coverage was horrible. Went with Cingular GSM back in June. Coverage was spotty at first, but has dramatically improved. I travel over 30,000 miles in Miss. each year and have had very few dropped calls. Completely satisfied.
