I know what you mean. I live around that area. My service use to be great with AT&T, now it just sucks. I switch over and got the Pearl Flip with Verizon and I have great service all the way up to 78 and south of town! I noticed that my pearl would only pick up on EDGE, my Verizon phone picks up on 3G. The internet is a lot faster.

I switch to Verizon Wireless the other day from AT&T and the service is great! The person at the store told me to do *228 option 2 every month because of new towers they are adding all over North MS. I am really happy I switch. AT&T was giving me dropped calls and everything. Everyone should look into Verizon Wireless.

I've had this Virgin Mobile phone for two months. I have had no clarity or dropout problems using it in Oxford. It does have occasional signal losses in areas between Oxford and Jackson, Tupelo, and Birmingham; but waiting a minute for a strong signal hasn't been a problem for me. I tested our area south of Oxford with a friend's Sprint phone before buying the new phone, since Virgin Mobile is a Sprint subsidiary. We previously had both Verizon and StraightTalk which uses Verizon as the carrier. The Verizon service was flawless, but expensive. StraightTalk surprisingly gave us frequent dropouts with a message which said, "Call Ended."

I get reception all over oxford and the surrounding area. Most people complain about Sprint in this area, but I guess those comments are old. Sprint is excellent in Oxford.

I have the National Plan and I am dropped in the middle of a call about 4 times a week, but the reception (average 4 / 5 bars) is good. I think my problem is the old tank of a 5165 that I have. I think my phone has trouble transitioning from 1 cell tower to the other.

On campus I get good reception, 3G everywhere, except on game days. So many people come in at the same time on game days that the service grinds to a halt. Off campus service is good in town, but as soon as you head out of town all bets are off.

Overall, the reception I receive in Oxford is pretty good. I have noticed that since the new GSM towers went up in mid-July, service is much better. For instance, I formerly had no service at all in the Delta, and now I have the usual 3-5 bars of reception. So, I am satisfied with the way the new towers are receiving.

My reception in Oxford is hurrendous. I even have a plan which allows unlimited roaming service, and even roaming does not provide reception on my phone. Overall, I am very disappointed with Sprint service in Oxford.

I get terrible reception at home both in my home and outside. When I asked AT&T about it I was told I should get good reception since there was a tower on College Hill. When I went back I was told there wasn't a tower out here. Obviously, they lied.
