Service is terrible! Absolutely no bars at our residence, terrible coverage going up the canyon toward West Yellowstone, no coverage around Hebgen Lake. Tried to talk to Customer Service they have been absolutely NO help. So we have a phone that is basically unusable for the areas we travel to and from...
Switched from Alltel because AT&T is buying them here. I hated AT&T when I lived down south. The customer service is horrible and the service sucked. I feel bad for those Alltel customers who will be forced to an AT&T phone and plan. As for Verizon, it works great. 3G is fast and coverage is great. No dropped calls or anything.
I have a new iPhone with AT&T Postpaid, contract plan. Good, consistent outdoor coverage along major roads and cross streets. EDGE data available via AT&T. No 3G. Intermittent visual voicemail. Service becomes spotty along rural routes as you head away from Bozeman. I tried a prepaid (Pay As You Go - PAYG) AT&T phone here prior to signing up for service. I found no coverage. AT&T's roaming agreements with the local tower operators are only for postpaid customers (as I finally had explained to me from AT&T).
Good coverage all over town and in big sky, but not in the canyon on the way to Big Sky... not that any other carrier does. Over all, it's good. But all my friends have verizon, so I have to pay for txt msgs.
No cross over service for AT&T pay as you go customers - shame on you AT&T - I should be able to spend my balance where ever I choose. It is 2008 not 1988 - get your switching agreements sorted and your act together. Why is it si can go to any country in Europe with my UK vodafone plan and call of any network (at a price I will agree) but I cannot evev switch state in the US and still use the same SIM card / service provider. In fact AT& T stink.
Sprint blows here. I'm lucky if I get "hello" out and hear the party I'm calling's response before the call is dropped. My phone has basically become useless. Just the other day I tried calling a friend. After my phone dropped the call four times I gave up and called him on the landline. Pathetic. Why am I paying $90 / month for the pleasure of owning a phone that doesn't even work?
I would like to say that I would like some way that it would make it easier to talk to such as an earpiece and if my cell phone service effects other cell phone compaines.
Cell phone service in the Gallatin Canyon and upper Gallatin Canyon clear to 10 miles outside of West Yellowstone on Hwy. 191 is none existent. Why not install a tower in some of the open areas alongside the hwy at least right before entering Yellowstone?!
Service jumps from G to not G. Service cuts off in calls as the towers don't hand off. And I'm not moving around when this happens. From past experience I know that Verizon doesn't cover the interstates. Had no connection for all I-80 in Nevada once I left the cities. Cingular / AT&T has most of freeways covered.
