ATT Wireless caused my cellular service to change to off network, and then a tesxt message stating I will be charged. I was also informed I should read the agreement somewhere in that was mentioned in the text. I called ATT and they stated they were taking Alltel network and replacing only only one tower in Belgrade at the end of January 2011. One tower will suck... Verizon dominates here like their commercial states, " Even In Bozeman, Montana"...

I switched to Verizon today. Coming from Alltel which is going to AT&T. I have family and they recently switched to Verizon from AT&T (they live in Texas) and they were telling me how spotty the service is and the lack of 3G. Also, how horrible the customer service is. I'm afraid Alltel went to a bad company... The reps at the Verizon store were very nice and helped me a lot. I love my phone too! It has a built in mobile hotspot which I can connect 5 devices up to at no extra charge. It's like tethering at no extra charge! The reps help me set it up and everything. I am a very happy customer! I have some friends who are about to switch over form Alltel too.

Service is terrible! Absolutely no bars at our residence, terrible coverage going up the canyon toward West Yellowstone, no coverage around Hebgen Lake. Tried to talk to Customer Service they have been absolutely NO help. So we have a phone that is basically unusable for the areas we travel to and from...

Switched from Alltel because AT&T is buying them here. I hated AT&T when I lived down south. The customer service is horrible and the service sucked. I feel bad for those Alltel customers who will be forced to an AT&T phone and plan. As for Verizon, it works great. 3G is fast and coverage is great. No dropped calls or anything.

No cross over service for AT&T pay as you go customers - shame on you AT&T - I should be able to spend my balance where ever I choose. It is 2008 not 1988 - get your switching agreements sorted and your act together. Why is it si can go to any country in Europe with my UK vodafone plan and call of any network (at a price I will agree) but I cannot evev switch state in the US and still use the same SIM card / service provider. In fact AT& T stink.

Sprint blows here. I'm lucky if I get "hello" out and hear the party I'm calling's response before the call is dropped. My phone has basically become useless. Just the other day I tried calling a friend. After my phone dropped the call four times I gave up and called him on the landline. Pathetic. Why am I paying $90 / month for the pleasure of owning a phone that doesn't even work?

It seems that there is a mixed bag for T-Mobile users in Bozeman. I get 2-3 bars when I am in town and my wife gets 0-1 on her phone. As we head out of town, we almost immediately drop 1 bar (meaning wife gets none and I get 1-2) and the further from I-90 I get the more likely I am to get no service.

Tower must have a malfunction. Most of the time I have to walk up a block to be able to get my messages (1-2bars), but I could not make a phone call with it. I have to go up to the 6th floor of the engineering building to be able to make a phone call.

I moved to Bozeman from Houston about a year ago. Bottom line -- Bozeman is a one-horse town when it comes to reliable mobile service. I had AT&T in Houston, but not here. I was told by AT&T that if I made calls roaming for two months straight (basically, not being on an AT&T network), that AT&T would simply end my service. All these companies and their suppliers now officially stink. I had a BlackBerry Bold with AT&T. It happened at the time that AT&T were the only vendor for that phone and they refused to unlock my phone so I could use it with Verizon -- nevermind AT&T couldn't - rather, wouldn't - provide me service here. So I bought a BlackBerry Storm with Verizon (who are the sole vendors for that phone). I hate the touchscreen and its about as reliable as my ex-wife. Now Verizon have the BlackBerry Tour, but hell will freeze over before I shell out another $300-$400 to Verizon for yet another phone. None of the companies get it when it comes to customer service. My bills are regularly $2,500 - $3,500 a month. Do you think I can get any cooperation from any of these businesses to get problems solved? Hell no. But they're all quick to tyr to sell me more of their junk.

I travel this state as well at ID and WY. Whenever I ride with a Verizon customer they are amazed at the coverage I have when they have none. Data service is great, too. I'm very concerned that Alltel customers are being dumped on AT&T after reading the reviews and reviewing their site. I won't go back to Verizon after the way they treated me with their pathetic business practices. The Alltel sale looks to be a lose-lose for everybody.

AT&T claims that they cover Bozeman Montana but I moved here from Evansville Indiana, and I have traveled all over the country with different brands of AT&T phones and the truth of the matter is they have the worst coverage of any company I've seen to date. They lie on the commercials and when you talk to them in the stores. Then when you call customer service not only do most of their reps. NOT speak English they don't resolve anything. DO NOT USE AT&T!

I have Credo Mobile which uses Sprint's towers for my work phone. I get better reception on this phone than I do on my personal Verizon cell phone. My only complaint is sometimes in the middle of a call the reception will drop down to nothing. But I get much better reception with a Blackberry on Sprints towers than an LG on Verizon when traveling outside of Bozeman

I have a new iPhone with AT&T Postpaid, contract plan. Good, consistent outdoor coverage along major roads and cross streets. EDGE data available via AT&T. No 3G. Intermittent visual voicemail. Service becomes spotty along rural routes as you head away from Bozeman. I tried a prepaid (Pay As You Go - PAYG) AT&T phone here prior to signing up for service. I found no coverage. AT&T's roaming agreements with the local tower operators are only for postpaid customers (as I finally had explained to me from AT&T).

Cell phone service in the Gallatin Canyon and upper Gallatin Canyon clear to 10 miles outside of West Yellowstone on Hwy. 191 is none existent. Why not install a tower in some of the open areas alongside the hwy at least right before entering Yellowstone?!

Service jumps from G to not G. Service cuts off in calls as the towers don't hand off. And I'm not moving around when this happens. From past experience I know that Verizon doesn't cover the interstates. Had no connection for all I-80 in Nevada once I left the cities. Cingular / AT&T has most of freeways covered.

Seems like cell phone reception in Montana is a crap shoot at best, and often horrid. I think that cell phone service never seems to improve no matter how much other technologies do. Why don't they improve the service rather than adding cameras to the phones and internet and all that other junk I don't use? Anyway, in my opinion reception in downtown Bozeman is no better than any given spot where you have any reception at all. Frustrating.
