Actual review is from Belgrade to Miles City. In short, AT&T was poor past Bozeman until Park City. East of Billings to Miles City often roamed and while perf was ok, the plan I had at the time proved to be prohibitively expensive.
Verizon is good Belgrade to past Big Timber, signal drops in the canyons, picks up again for a bit around Columbus and then is pretty much dead until Park City. From Park City to Pompey's Pillar signal ranges from good to excellent to good, past Pompey's Pillar it's pretty much dead w/ a few intermittent working zones until just outside Custer. As you get back into the hills east of Custer, signal is again pretty much non-existant until Hysham. From Hysham to Forsyth, there is fair signal, with a few dead zones in the canyons.
Decent signal in and around Forsyth, intermittent on the way to Miles City, dead again in the canyons. As you get w/i 6-8 mile west of Miles City, signal returns, growing from fair to good to excellent as you approach and enter Miles City.
The StarTac seemed to perform a little better than the LG, but the StarTac had to be retired; just too many abuses of the case for it to hold together any longer.
