Max 2-bars from Averroe Dr. south in Greenbrier SD. Many dropped calls or fail to connect. Had same issue with Verizon 2.5 years ago so switched to Alltel. Alltel has been only slightly better.

I've yet to find a place I couldn't get service with Alltel. it's usually very good all over the area here. I don't have problems anywhere in Apex where I live. I can have a 45 minute conversation from my house all the way to the Wal-Mart in Cary and never drop. The signal is usually 4-5 bars here out of 5 total on my phone, even indoors. The calls sound good. No problems in any of the houses I normally visit in city here or out grocery shopping. Full signal around Food Lion and Lowe's and down the road at Harris Teeter the signal is also great. Just a good service all the way around. Be sure to compare plans too, Alltel's plans offer My Circle and a lot more minutes than Verizon or Cingular and from my experience, the coverage is even better. If you're a comparison shopper that wants the best coverage around here, Alltel is definitely the way to go. Just stay away from SunCom. They have good prices too but the coverage is basically lacking.

Coverage is pretty weak. Sometimes as many as 3 bars, but usually 2 or lower. Also, no 3G coverage. Only EDGE. Sometimes your phone will say 3G, but that quickly switches over to EDGE.

Terrible reception. Can barely make calls inside home. Usually have "No Service" message. Zero to one bar outside. Get two bars once I leave the area. Constantly miss calls and receive voicemail hours later. I so hate AT&T, then Cingular and again AT&T. Jerk Rep at Beaver Creek talked me into this phone telling me it had state of the art reception. Went from a two bar old Motorola flip phone to this piece of crap. Pleaded my case to them and they laughed wanted another $100 plus fees to exchange for another phone. I had to obtain a land line so I can make calls. As nice as Apex is, area is lousy for cell reception, takes a really good phone with an exposed antenna.

No signal in our home, even with brand new phone. Minimal coverage outside, but most calls are dropped after a few moments. Worst area for coverage regardless of cellular carrier, all of my neighbors agree. The need more towers out here due to the hills in this area. Last summer our power was out for an extensive amount of time, so was our phones, and our cell phones were of no use to us in the event of an emergency.

Apex, NC Post Office on Hwy. 55, Apex, NC 27502 Fri Apr 28, 2006

You can expect to lose reception 98% of the time when going east and passing the Apex post office on Hwy. 55. Oddly, enough, the phone doesn't drop at the same location when you are headed west.

US 64 To 751 To Durham, Apex, NC 27502 Wed Jul 13, 2005

Leaving Apex and heading toward Jordan Lake on US 64, I turned toward Durham onto 751. I traveled all the way to Duke campus. While I never lost a signal the reception ranged widely from 1 to 5 bars. I basically watched the signal strength indicator go up and down as I passed near towers an went up and down hills. One nice thing, with the single rate plan there was no roaming. I had a Nokia 2260 (TDMA?) in the car as well and it's reception pattern varied in a pattern disctict from the Motorola v170. It also popped in and out of roaming.

Reception fluctuates between 0 and 3 bars, but I can never have a conversation for longer than 2 minutes without the other person not being able to hear me or the call being dropped completely. Every time I call Sprint / Nextel they never try to offer any compensation or solutions. If it were not for this 2 yr contract, which I think is BS, I would have dropped them a long time ago.

Great reception, no problems, I DL at 1.2 Mb / s, not bad for a cell phone. Someone said earlier they DL 6 MB, I am not believing that, but eh, who knows. I've seen mixed reviews about sprint, mostly bad, but I must be the ONLY fortunate one as I have no honest complaints. Either that or everyone on here just likes to complain.

Green Level Rd.West / White Oak Church Rd., Apex, NC 27523 Mon Oct 20, 2008

I switched to Sprint in Dec. 2007 from Verizon and had coverage here at the house for months and months, now I have no signal. The same thing happened with Verizon, I was a loyal customer for ?? 5+ years then all of a sudden, I had no coverage here at the house. The explanation was a change in tower and what company owned it? rented it at that point. They had done some research and I will say that they bent over backwards to help me, let me out of my contract, were very honest about the problems. There has to be a change in the towers *again, this time I am just getting the run around. They say to dial *2 and follow the directions... I can not do that because I have no signal. I would go back to Verizon in a heart beat, if I could get coverage for my cell phone here at the house!
