Great reception, no problems, I DL at 1.2 Mb / s, not bad for a cell phone. Someone said earlier they DL 6 MB, I am not believing that, but eh, who knows. I've seen mixed reviews about sprint, mostly bad, but I must be the ONLY fortunate one as I have no honest complaints. Either that or everyone on here just likes to complain.

I've yet to find a place I couldn't get service with Alltel. it's usually very good all over the area here. I don't have problems anywhere in Apex where I live. I can have a 45 minute conversation from my house all the way to the Wal-Mart in Cary and never drop. The signal is usually 4-5 bars here out of 5 total on my phone, even indoors. The calls sound good. No problems in any of the houses I normally visit in city here or out grocery shopping. Full signal around Food Lion and Lowe's and down the road at Harris Teeter the signal is also great. Just a good service all the way around. Be sure to compare plans too, Alltel's plans offer My Circle and a lot more minutes than Verizon or Cingular and from my experience, the coverage is even better. If you're a comparison shopper that wants the best coverage around here, Alltel is definitely the way to go. Just stay away from SunCom. They have good prices too but the coverage is basically lacking.

Street level performance is usually very good anywhere in Apex. The problem is talking in the house. I have a T-Mobile "Hot Spot" in my house and it does work, but it seems to take several seconds to make the connection when answering a call. Also, there is some type of delay as I am always stepping on the person on the other end as it sounds like they have finished talking when in reality they have begun their next sentence. Overall service is pretty good.

I get pretty descent reception all over town. The key to getting good reception with Sprint PCS is your choice of phones, the Sanyos tend to get better reception overall. From what I remember there are several bad spots on Holly Springs Road before it reaches Tryon coming from Holly Springs that will DROP with any phone, its a dip in the land. I've had "OK" coverage at my old house in Sunset Ridge in Holly Springs but much better reception in Apex. Where I work I can get reception inside a large commercial building but most of my co-workers don't have reception at all with US Cellular, Cingular or Alltel.

US 64 To 751 To Durham, Apex, NC 27502 |

Leaving Apex and heading toward Jordan Lake on US 64, I turned toward Durham onto 751. I traveled all the way to Duke campus. While I never lost a signal the reception ranged widely from 1 to 5 bars. I basically watched the signal strength indicator go up and down as I passed near towers an went up and down hills. One nice thing, with the single rate plan there was no roaming. I had a Nokia 2260 (TDMA?) in the car as well and it's reception pattern varied in a pattern disctict from the Motorola v170. It also popped in and out of roaming.

Coverage is pretty weak. Sometimes as many as 3 bars, but usually 2 or lower. Also, no 3G coverage. Only EDGE. Sometimes your phone will say 3G, but that quickly switches over to EDGE.

I live in Apex, NC. Can't use phone inside home and lousy reception in yard. My neighbor is with Verizon too and they can't use their phones. My phone is less than a year old and stuck with a 2 year contract. $48.00 down the drain monthly.

Anywhere from Averroe Dr. south in Greenbrier SD get max of 2-bars. Have same issue with Alltel on a LG ax5000 and had same issue on Verizon with a vx3200 before I dropped their service 2+ years ago.
