I switched from T-Mobile to Sprint for the great packages, however the reception I get on the fancy smartphone I got with Sprint does not stack up to the reception I got with my clunky old Nokia with Tmobile. I guess this is the way things are built nowadays?

OK folks, Verizon works great everywhere in NC and a lot of places your friends phones won't - like in remote places in the mountains, but the "kind" folks at Verizon can't get it together to make their phones work well in Chapel Hill. Go figure. Mine mostly drops calls Anywhere along or north of Estes drive and East of old 86 including all along new 86 in Chapel Hill and the entire population center of Weaver Dairy, Chapel hill North, and the lakeshore drive / estes hills neighborhood. Starts to pick up a signal again when you get to Estes and Franklin intersection. And yes kind folks, I do update (star 228) the phone with the towers as you keep suggesting. Works fine South of town and everywhere else (except at the intersection of smith level and 15-501 in Carrboro). Works in all the mountains and valleys around Asheville. Never drops calls anywhere else.

I've never had problems with Verizon reception before, and have lived all over the east coast and in WI. Here I get constant complaints that I can't be heard, and calls drop randomly all the time. This happens mainly inside my apartment but it is noticeably fuzzier as I go from Durham (where I work) to Chapel Hill, and then even worse as I get to Carrboro.

I just moved from Ohio to Chapel Hill, I never had any issues with service with Verizon before. Now that I have moved my Driod, is just a large paper wieght. I can no longer use GPS, or a majority of my online apps. I will try and contact Verizon and let them know about the situation. But from what I am reading this will not help.

Reception comes and goes. Verizon tells me they only guarantee reception outside my house. Outside I get it about 75%. Inside about 50% of time. Why the shortage of towers here?

Sprint service roams throughout Chapel Hill and Carrboro. I get no reception at my house and am forced to pay the extra $40-50 per month for the Unlimited Plan which covers roaming mobile-to-mobile calls. The people at the Sprint store on Mt. Moriah will tell you that there's excellent coverage according to the map, but that's not true. I called tech support and they told me that Sprint is roaming in most of the area...

I moved from Chapel Hill and I had decent coverage there but I can barely get a call out in Carrboro. In order to have a decent conversation I have to call people while I am in Chapel Hill. Whenever, I am in Carrboro, my phone has 1, maybe 2 bars. And it is always searching for Verizon Towers.
