Have actually been dropped on a 911 call in my front yard. Not the best result to occur. Signal drops from 5 to 1 bar intermittently. Thank God I am out of the contract. I am debating a change in carriers, but after reviewing other results am not so sure any is better than others.
Really sucks. Switches between analog and digital, never holding either long enough to generate or complete a call. Even walking outside gives little to no improvement. Elderly parent has a Nokia phone on my contract that is also useless from this location. Hope to God his landline never fails in the event of an emergency.
Alltel has been my only cell carrier and I have had several phones with them Nokia, Motorola, and LG. All work well and I have roamed in NC, SC and Chicago with no problems. My one small complaint is sometimes voicemail messages arrive late or somehow I miss the notification but it doesn't happen often and it's not a big deal.
I've been a customer since 2000, and for the most part have been fairly satisfied with their service. Lately though reception doesn't seem as good and I'm dropping more calls. Last year I had an issue with my phone and was basically told that I was not a new customer and was in the middle of a contract so they were not pbligated to be be too nice to me... I just purchased an unlocked Blackberry and since my contract is now doe, am shopping around...
I have been using Alltel since my first phone (which was a bag phone, if you can remember that far back) and I have never had a problem, in town or out of town. I now have the Motorola razr and good service continues. Other family and friends have had other services and had all kinds of problems, switched to Alltel and everythig is fine. Everyone keeps using my phone because their service is so crappy.
Recently shopped with a friend at the new shopping center, Rivergate. We were in Target. I had full bars and great call quality with my Alltel phone. She had 1 bar on her Verizon phone. She could not hold a call to her husband. Eventually she had to use my Alltel phone to call him back. America's most reliable network, my a*s. Alltel has ben wonderful all around Chalotte and when I travel. They are much more inexpensive then Verizon and apparently "more reliable."
alltel is awesome... i have used Cingular and Verizon and Cingular was horrible in charlotte and indian trail, nc. Verizon was good... but Alltel is the best thing ever.
Alltel has been great I have no real complaints. The rates are the best! The one thing I notice is I will usually drop a call where Independence meets the Brookshire freeway. When I dial right back the call always goes through so it might be a cell that's not doing a proper hand off.
The only part of campus where I get any decent cell phone reception is in and around the Cone building to which I must walk when I need a strong connection. I am definitely switching to Verizon or Cingular
Just moved near UNC Charlotte's campus and coming from Cameron, NC where there was hardly anything there, Alltel still prevailed and had fantastic service there. Here in Charlotte the service is just the same, crystal clear calls along with the EVDO technology offered here in Charlotte. This service is great, and I recommend Alltel to anyone who is looking for a dedicated, realiable celluar phone service. Pass the word around this company is truly about "loving" their customers. This is not surprising to be roaming on the Alltel network and still have excellent coverage. From Florida to New York to Texas Alltel has always provided me service that has never let me down. Consider switching to Alltel.
