Location down a hill on at least 3 sides; very low signal and reception poor. Others have same problem. Can't use phone in the house at all.

I've been a Nextel customer since 1996. Usually good reception until... the merger with Sprint! Two out of every five calls get dropped. No compensation. No reception inside Central Cabarrus.

Well, were should I start? I have been with Nextel for 7 years and have always been able to get a signal. Yes, it would drop a call from time to time, but overall good service. In my opinion ever since this merger with Sprint my service has absolutely gone downhill fast. I am going to have to find someone else because I depend on my phone for a living. Just cut off on a customer twice in a 10 minute coversation while they are spending an average of $200K a month. The only thing I can rely on is the two-way. So here I go on my quest to find great cell service once again. Goodbye Nextel.

The problem is the switch from Cingular to Suncom. I had ATT for 8 years and three phone lines. I got switched to Cingular - switch was not too bad and service / reception improved. THEN... I got switched to SUNCOM. IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE! After 6 hours at the Suncom store trying to make the conversion, nothing worked properly and all of my plans were set up wrong. These people don't know what they're doing. And to make matters worse, you have to wait ridiculous amounts of time on hold only to get someone that can't help you. Then you wait on hold for them to transfer you to another person that is equally unknowledgeable. I am SOOOOOO FRUSTRATED. I tried to switch back to Cingular, but they would not honor the rate plan I had with them when they dumped me involuntarily to SunCom. What good are any utility regulations if this kind of behavior is allowed?

Nextel's reception gets worse and worse. I switched phones to see if it got better, but that didn't happen. I have no service inside my home, and none in buildings. If the Nextel 500 race is in town, you can forget having service altogether. Many dropped calls (although Nextel says they can monitor the dropped ones: mysteriously, the drop percentage is always within their margin of error, imagine that!) To add insult to injury, it is $200 per phone to get out of the contract. They won't even credit for the dropped calls, or the times without service. I may bite the bullet and pay $400 just to be rid of Nextel for good.

I switched from Sprint to Cingular. I can actually use my phone inside of buildings now (the mall, wal-mart, Food Lion), where I could not with Sprint in this area. I also drive in the country alot and I was allway "roaming" with Sprint, now I get a very good signal with Cingular. I am pleased so far.

I drop calls just about everywhere... ..especially driving along I85 from Mecklenburg to Rowan County. I have had service with AT&T, Verizon, Cricket, and ALltell... .this has been THE WORSE.

Very good reception around Central Cabarrus High School. I drive to south Charlotte for work and excellent reception the whole way except around UNCC, but calls never drop. Contrast that with my previous provider, Verizon, where 50% of my calls would drop especially at my house. I can even take my Cingular phone in my basement where the bars are low (expected) but the call is clear and does not drop.

Had Sprint for 7 years and decided to try someone else to get a better plan. Got a Cingular for me and my wife and have had nothing but problems. Fade and dropped calls almost everytime we talked. Didn't matter if we were parked or moving. Cingular said "That's Strange, you're the first person to report any problems with service at all." Uh... right. We upgraded to the new Motorola V551 phones this week and same problems. Monday we try Verizon.
