Went 3G almost a month ago, and *wow*, it is night and day. So far no missed calls, constant 4 bars of signal, even indoors, and call quality is better, and most of all, blazing fast data speeds. It even works great in the middle of the courthouse downtown, which used to be a major dead zone. Was EDGE for the longest time, with constant missed calls (phone would not even ring or register a missed call), slow data speeds, and constant timeouts. Would only get two or three bars of signal, and would frequently have no signal at all inside my home.

Irish Potato / St. Johns Church, Concord, NC 28025 |

Good reception at home and in area surrounding - mid-way from Concord to Mt. Pleasant. Some spotty areas on Irish Potato (near landfill - big dip in road). Can't get good signal in Lowe's Kannapolis - probably due to metal roof and high shelving

The service is awful. Actually, I'm not sure why I have a phone at all. I have no service at home except on rare occasion when I get 1 maybe 2 bars AND I have no reception at work, zip code 28262, Mallard Creek area.

If you look at the AT&T coverage map I should have some coverage. However, I go from 2 bars to "no signal" as soon as I try to use it. Coverage is abysmal at best. I have called and was told there are towers all around me that are 3G so don't expect better signal... .ever. I hope Verizon gets the iPhone next year.

I've had Alltel for a number of years and I can't remember the last time I've had spotty reception anywhere in Concord or Charlotte. It's simply not something I ever even think about.

Had GREAT coverage until Cingular merged with AT&T. Now, I drop at least one call a day and often with good signals. My phone also wil not hang up when the call has been dropped until the other person hangs up (it "freezes"). May be my old phone, but still erks me. Customer service is pretty good though, they helped me with a high bill once.

I've actually not had any major trouble with my Sprint service near downtown Concord. I can use it in my two-story house perfectly. There have been two or three times in the year I've been there where a call will come in static-like, but I only have to call the person back and everything is fine. The only times I get a poor signal is when I get off an elevator or in Wal-Mart (Target is fine with reception). In the mountains, I get poor service, but c'mon, I'm out in the middle of nowhere...

Switched from Alltel to Verizon and we are going back to Alltel. Verizon was horrible for dropping calls. It was impossible to carry on a conversation with anyone on Concord-Salisbury Rd.and in Mt. Holly where my husband works.

I've been a Nextel customer since 1996. Usually good reception until... the merger with Sprint! Two out of every five calls get dropped. No compensation. No reception inside Central Cabarrus.

Nextel's reception gets worse and worse. I switched phones to see if it got better, but that didn't happen. I have no service inside my home, and none in buildings. If the Nextel 500 race is in town, you can forget having service altogether. Many dropped calls (although Nextel says they can monitor the dropped ones: mysteriously, the drop percentage is always within their margin of error, imagine that!) To add insult to injury, it is $200 per phone to get out of the contract. They won't even credit for the dropped calls, or the times without service. I may bite the bullet and pay $400 just to be rid of Nextel for good.

I switched from Sprint to Cingular. I can actually use my phone inside of buildings now (the mall, wal-mart, Food Lion), where I could not with Sprint in this area. I also drive in the country alot and I was allway "roaming" with Sprint, now I get a very good signal with Cingular. I am pleased so far.

Very good reception around Central Cabarrus High School. I drive to south Charlotte for work and excellent reception the whole way except around UNCC, but calls never drop. Contrast that with my previous provider, Verizon, where 50% of my calls would drop especially at my house. I can even take my Cingular phone in my basement where the bars are low (expected) but the call is clear and does not drop.

Hardly any service at all. dropped calls, text messages won't go through. but unfortunately, it works in Montgomery county where my parents live. And for the record, I don't know any cell service that is perfect in the Mount Gilead Montgomery County area ESPECIALLY from 109 to denton area.
