Apparently, some time ago, the neighbors were asked if they wanted a cell tower in our area and they said no. We didn't live here at the time. Hey, AT&T, ask me, ask me! You can put one on my roof if you want to! I'm sick of NO coverage here in the Dead Zone of Friendly and Starmount. I get about a bar most of the time in the house, but sometimes nothing unless I reboot the phone and wait a couple of minutes to make a call. I got a new Samsung smart phone for Christmas. It's going back because, while my reception with my old phone is spotty, there was ZERO reception with the new (and very cool) phone. Bah Humbug, AT&T! I want to know why you're ignoring a pricey neighborhood like this... there's a huge church just up the hill with a steeple just screaming for a cell tower... and I'm sure they would appreciate the income! Take a hint, AT&T... I'm thinking seriously of switching services, and I've been a loyal customer for about 15 years~

I am interested in the bundling services that AT&T offers but tried it once before and get no service at all in my house not even when walking up and down the street within a third of a mile each way. Please do something to improve the reception so I can switch!

Just an amazing network AT&T operates here. 3G speeds are mind blowing with the new enhanced 7.2mbps technology here, coverage is superb (there are a few areas, but all carriers have the same issue) They recently added 6 new cites and 150 T1's for an even better upgrade (DEC 19, 2009) Good job AT&T, I look forward to your future coverage.

In my home there is no reception 90% of the time; but outside I have weak reception about 60-70% of the time. There MUST be something better than Cingular / AT&T for use in Summerfield.

I can't make one phone call in that area that goes through. I am not sure if it's the phoe, the towers or both. Should I change carriers?

At best, my husband and I both encounter fuzzy reception through this stretch. I usually drop my calls, including one today. This is right smack in the middle of NW Greensboro near Bryan Blvd. Why is service so bad IN TOWN?

Grr..the network with the MOST dropped calls. At least 50% of my calls end with the signal being lost. Granted I don't live in the most urban area of GSO, but it seems ridiculous to have this problem within the city limits. With the northeast population boom, it's time for carriers to get with the program.

Very inconsistent coverage. Neither my phone nor the two newer phones (both Cingular as well) used by other people living in my house work when we are at home. You have to walk out to the street or in the back yard to get coverage. Furthermore, all around the neighborhood, service spikes and drops off without warning. I'll be talking one minute just fine, then realize the other person hasn't heard a word I said. I don't get a lot of dropped calls, but call quality is inferior and sometimes the call might as well have been dropped because the signal is so weak that I can't hear a thing. I have experienced lots of dead zones throughout Greensboro, the county, and on road trips around North Carolina. My plan expires in August and I am gone.

I work on N. Elm St. and get no reception where I work, it's a dead zone. On my way home, I eventually get 1-2 bars near the intersection with Pisgah Church but then no reception on Pisgah Church Rd. until I get near Cingular's call center at Lawndale. Then the service is 100%--wonder why? LOL. So basically you have to work for Cingular to get any reception around here. We're stuck in a 2 year contract, switched to Cingular when we moved back to NC. I wish they had T-Mobile around here, we had them when we lived in AL and never had a single problem or dropped call the entire 3 years we were with them. We only had problems when we were traveling to visit family in NC and our phones roamed on Cingular's network. Then, nothing worked right! And Cingular says they have the least dropped calls of any wireless network? HA.

I have Suncom, but use the Cingular network freely. The combination is very good in the Greensboro Area (But I wouldnt use Cingular outright -they dont allow use of the SunCom network, and that instantly results in about a 40% decrease in coverage). There is a "dead zone" at around Friendly / Holden where almost every time I drive through, my call is dropped. But other than that, I have had no reception problems with either Cingular or SunCom's network. Customer Service, on the other hand, is a completely different story. I left Cingular to switch to AT&T (because of awful customer service), and am now a SunCom customer.. and I really do miss those AT&T Wireless representatives.. They were a classy bunch. Now its back to the accusations and people trying to pick a fight with me over the phone, all the while dodging the actual issue. I guess they think that if they make you mad enough you'll forget why you called to begin with. Hows that for "Truth in Wireless"?

Really I have SunCom now, but its still using Cingular systems cause they are in cahouts together Ive never had any other service provider (except AT&T, and the whole Cingular / Suncom deal), but all my friends have verizon, sprint, and alltel. Comparatively speaking, I grab my friends cell phone, look at how many bars he has 3 / 6 on Alltel, grab my other friends phone 4 / 6 on Verizon, and I look at mine and I have 6 / 6 almost all the time. The reason is Cingular uses the new GSM cell phone standard, which travels farther with better signal strength, while Alltel and Verizon are still using the CDMA / TDMA cell phone standard that has been around since cell phones were first invented. High speed data network with Cingular / Suncom too Id say definately Cingular / Suncom for Greensboro
